Staff were very pleasant when we visited, salt and vinegar on every table. Great atmosphere, quiet area to enjoy nice food in the centre of Shrewsbury.
Been here a couple of times. The fish is great. Chips are good enough. Mushy peas are bland but fine. Bread roll is not good and last time it came with butter in it. I guess it was butter. It was just an oily patch in a stale roll that was hard around the edges. I guess it had been microwaved at some point during its brief, unfortunate life.
But the service on the last visit was absolute chaos. The cashier was doing his best but the kitchen staff - right behind him and in view of customers - were struggling to keep up with orders, all the while arguing about what food was missing from various orders. It took 25 minutes for my order to be ready which, for a busy fish and chip shop on a weekend lunchtime, isn't great.
That said, the fish is great. I'd go back for that. ????????

Only thing good is the packaging, must be done where the money goes.
Very clean, very helpful staff who explained the menu and bought us the food. We did wait about 25 minutes for the food but it was freshly cooked to order, lovely and hot and delicious. Will definitely go back
Has a good sized eat in area, which during my visit was clean and tidy. Had a bit of a wait for my order, but this was because the food was made to order so you are guaranteed piping hot fresh food which was a good portion for the cost. Food was perfectly cooked and very nice. They also offer the option of ordering to takeout like a traditional fish and chip shop. I would certainly recommend a visit.
Outstanding fish and chips. I will go miles out of my way to visit top rated fish and chip shops and the fish and chips from here were the best I have had for many years. Haddock full of flavour and cooked to perfection.
Highly recommended.
Update: August 2023 - visited again and still excellent.
Large eat in or out modern chippy. Quick polite service. Reasonable prices. Fair selection of foods.
But typical feeling of a fast food outlet
Oh, and if eating in you may find your clothes smelling a bit like a chippy afterwards.
Fish was amazing, chips were really enjoyable too, mushy peas were spot on.
