Excellent garage. My car was playing up during a long drive from London to Newcastle. As I was visiting Jesmond for a few days, I took the car to Mistletoe Garage. John, the owner, the head mechanic (Phil) and the electrician (Mark) were all very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They explained everything along the way, rang me as arranged, and carried out the work I asked them to. They didn't at any stage carry out work without asking me first. Thank you!!
Tried to rip me off. Wanted to charge £800 to sort my car. After receiving the list of what was wrong with my car I got a second opinion and more than half of the things he was charging me for didn’t need doing
We only use this garage for jobs in the North east that are too far away for us to do for customers , John has helped us out a few times and his service has always been brilliant. Highly recommend

Charged for extra work without consulting, and did not explain why was it necessary at all, did not provide proof of fault either. Never asked for repairs! Avoid at all costs especially if you are a young woman.
Added work for £110 without consulting me beforehand and failed to quote for VAT which added another 33% to the final bill. Became very defensive when questioned on both of these things. Would not recommend
John was really condescending, I was quoted £80 for a new battery and they tried to charge me £181, after preaching my point about being a student and not consenting to the work done at this price he told me not to ‘get upset’ and he would take £130. Which is still very much on the high end but more palatable than £181. I really dont trust these men, seem very deceitful and money hungry please be cautious if you visit, make sure you know what youre paying for and you know your rights!
Took my car in for a bad noise coming from drivers side wheel. Car was there for three and a half weeks, never any update from owner. Eventually asked if I could just pick the car up as they said it was fixed and ready. When I picked it up the battery was dead although they said it was taken for a test drive the day before. The battery I have in the car takes weeks to drain. The power steering fluid was low so the car had been sitting there for a while. The issue wasn’t fixed and they charged £140 for me to take the car back. The receipt says serviced brakes however when I took the car to a different garage they identified the issue in twenty minutes and fixed it in 2 hours. The problem was a broken ball joint and if I took mistletoe garages advice id still be driving with a bad ball joint. To add insult to injury it only cost me £60 with vat to fix it at the other garage. Absolutely ripped off and doubt I’ll ever see that money again, not to mention the cost of getting taxis to work while they had my car for over 3 weeks. I’d highly recommend finding a more reliable garage.
Wish I had read these reviews before being ripped off too. Avoid this garage at all costs.
Took the car in with a strange engine noise. I called up later that day to be told there was a lot of other problems discovered - tyres/wheel bearings/drop links. Whilst all the faults are probably genuine, I asked how much it would cost to fix.. John estimated £700-800 but said he would total everything up and call me back with a quote. Having heard nothing for 4 days I went back to the garage to ask about the quote. John said he hadn’t completed a quote… but that the car had already had the majority of the work completed on it and that he had also put it in for an MOT as it is due in February (its currently December). So not only did John not quote, he started work without any consent AND took it upon himself to put it in for an MOT 2 months early. At no point did John call me to inform me of a quote or that any work had been started, nor to ask if I wanted an MOT. When I came to collect/pay - the work totalled a staggering £1300. I argued my case that the last time we spoke John had estimated £700-800 and as far as I was concerned, I was waiting on a quote from him. John said he could do a price of £1200 if I paid part cash. I returned with some cash and John had disappeared, so the mechanic took the payment. Extremely dodgy garage - Will be reporting them. AVOID!
