Well what can I say like most of my decisions in life I went in bare back, having not seen the reviews.
First impressions from outside. I thought it was a derelict building. With a small sign, hardly no lighting and a sheet hanging in the top window.
On entering it’s like I stepped into Harry Potters bedroom. Such a waste of space and no decor.
Moving onto the staff. When I first walked it I thought I was going to be slapped about a bit by the female at the counter. This however, I got wrong, she took our order which I will say the prices are very reasonable.
While waiting for the food. I pictured what I could do with the wasted empty space. A good cobweb clean, a scrub, a paint, some pictures and some chairs. At this point I was really questioning whether I was indeed in a Chinese takeaway.
Food came and we began our quest through the great halls of Hogwarts.
Now onto the food. The food was actually excellent. Well priced, big portions and tasty. The ultimate test was the morning after toilet consistency. Which I can report came back with good results.
Listen people. It may not look nice, and feel like you’ve stepped into Tudor times however, it’s the food that counts and to me it was spot on.
I will be going back.
Absolutely horrendous! Avoid at all costs. Everything about this place was awful. Amazingly rude. Arguing in the kitchen constantly. Didn't even try to make you feel welcome. No table or chairs to sit at while you wait for your rats to be cooked. Their food hygiene certificate is buried in the cellar with the rest of the inspection team. Spider webs everywhere, dirty walls and sad dying plants. If that is front of house imagine what the kitchen looks like. Food came, egg fried rice was an ominous colour and tasted like burnt tyres, house special had ancient meat in it. The lemon chicken was dry like leather with squidgy batter and you had to add your own sauce which was basically lemon Fanta. Honestly I'm not even a fussy person and have had a fair few Chinese takeaways but this was just awful. £15 in the bin. Wouldn't even give it to a starving child. I swear it's just a front for something else.
If the very rude service... dirty interior... and vile food that tastes like rats and food poisoning is an intentional ruse to keep the public away then the staff are doing a first rate job.
Because no one would ever return here. Call environmental health, stat!
DO NOT waste your money at this place! Came to the area for a weekend away and it’s been RUINED by this god awful Chinese takeaway. They were rude on the phone so from the get go we thought brilliant!! If someone is spending money at your restaurant why would you be rude? Everything down to the curry sauce tasted horrendous. Also had to wait ages ! Rang up to the tell them and the man on the phone went ‘and then what?’ NEVER AGAIN
No, just no. Egg fried rice was just acceptable, otherwise this was simply dire. Took a chance on it as I was passing through and needed a quick meal, but I regretted it. Low quality food.
Truly the worst Chinese takeaway I have ever eaten. Cold and greasy, loaded with salt. Staff attitude was appalling, not even a please or thank you. Interior of the building is very dirty and I suggest you fix that block of wood duct taped to the floor before someone takes you to the cleaners! Disgusting.
Wouldn’t bother ordered food at 7 was told 40 mins turned up to pick the food up to find there was an elderly gent that had been there for and hour before me waiting for a chow mein he was struggling to stand and staff did nothing to help so we removed he plant pots from the window sill for him to sit down and hour and a half later at 9.30 the food finally comes out except the older gent still hasnt been given his I told the staff that this was disgusting and they shouldn’t take anymore order if there going to leave an elderly man sat there for over 2 and a half hours when he’s only waiting for a chow mein to which I was then told not to come back as I was being very rude took the food home to feed my family to then have my partner up untill 3 in the morning being sick after he at half a beef curry as he said it didn’t taste right would not recommend at all ridiculous service and staff that couldn’t care less
Ok ish. I know business have a hard time and it’s hard to make a living so I don’t won’t to say any thing to harsh, every body has a different taste but unfortunately it wasn’t for me, staff friendly, Good value for what you receive but not quite the standard I was expecting.
