Stayed in 2011 timeframe when the commando museum was here. Great food, nice room for the price. Locals were all lovely, went hotfooting for new years.
Never stayed at the hotel, but on a motorcycle rally a few years ago I had the best fish and chips I've ever had. The fish was coated in the crispiest batter one could imagine and because of the batter the fish was not greasy as the batter had sealed it in a cocoon of taste. The chips weren't bad either..!! 10/10 for flavour.
The overnight stay was better than expected quite honestly. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and best of all it was very quiet which was conducive to a good night’s undisturbed sleep. Breakfast was extra which we had, there was a choice of Scottish, English or Continental.|All the staff were very helpful and pleasant.
We actually loved this hotel, for what it was!||Pros:|- The room was enormous! It had a bathtub (very important to us after hours hiking Nevis!), it had coffee making facilities (which many places now lack). The beds were so comfortable, had a great couple of nights sleep here!|- The hotel was quiet. There was no noise, the walls carry the sound well, very peaceful. |- Staff in general were friendly, kind and helpful. |- Location is good. 15mins from Ben Nevis, 45 mins from Glencoe and The Harry Potter Bridge. There is a Spar mini market and a pharmacy next door which is exceptionally useful for anything you need and want. ||Cons: |- It is not a luxury hotel, but does not subscribe itself to be. It is more than adequate for a place to rest your head, but is tired and needs some TLC. |- Breakfast was expensive for what it was. No option of choices, you get what you’re given with no substitutes. I would recommend driving into Fort William for better breakfast options, personally. |- Main restaurant was OK. Menu is minimal, food OK. ||Genuinely, however, for what we needed, this hotel was perfect. I cannot rate it 5* because it’s not a 5* hotel and it has its flaws. But it’s perfect as a base to return to at the end of the day; it’s clean, comfortable, quiet, friendly and provides a pint and a hot meal. Perfect for a hiking pair in the area. Ended up staying here 3 nights when only booked for 1.
This place is just wow. The staff is great. There is just no equal to the friendly, warm welcome one receive at this establishment. Great place to stay over.
I can only describe this as comfortable but tired. The showers could do with a de-mold and deep clean. Pillows on the bed smelt strongly of tobacco and cigarette smoke. The food from the restaurant was excellent and served quickly and efficiently. All of the staff were friendly and helpful.
The owners could really do with doing a tidy up and paint job.
Good biker friendly hotel
We arrived after normal check-in time but we informed them before our arrival. The bartender assisted us with our check-in. We stayed for a night at their chalet. The room was spacious and clean. Plenty of parking space. Nice environment and fresh air. We also had breakfast there.
We stayed here for one night in June on route to Mull from the east coast. We knew we were going to be a late check in but that wasn’t a problem for hotel. Arrived about 9pm and found a very lovely helpful Lady dealing with restaurant and reception. We were shown to an external room and shown where we could find breakfast in the morning. Although the decor is a little dated the room was very clean and comfortable. My only gripe is the strength of the green light in the emergency light and the powerful lights outside, they made me very restless through the night, so my recommendation is to take an eye mask and you’ll be fine.
