All the websites for this hotel are misleading. The Hotel no longer has any kitchen facility and hasn’t had since before Covid, therefore there is no restaurant and not even breakfast is provided, despite advertising “free breakfast”. Our room (executive) was clean but otherwise very dingy with very poor lightning and outdated decor. As the room overlooked the car park, it would have been extremely noisy had it still had a thriving restaurant (no double glazing). In addition to this false advertising, when we googled this hotel a site called Guest Reservation came up which appeared to be the Hotel’s booking site. However, this is a scam site which when you receive confirmation of the booking, there are added charges. In our case £121.40. This fee plus the cost of the room are non-refundable. This company, having taken your money, then books your room via Booking.com!
Our double room was spacious, warm and comfortable. The bed although not big was comfortable. Close to town river and the castle. Good shower and bathroom area with lovely large towels. Plenty of parking. Coffee making facilities, No fridge.
It was fine at first despite no restuarant, and nthen on the last night of our stay because ur room.is so close to the front entrance the amount of people being noisey at midnight is a joke. Im.heavily pregnant and need sleep it would be quieter if i slept in my car!! The rooms are so hot i needed the window open which makes it even worse, no reapect for anybody, so i am.awake at 1am with a 4 hour drive to do in morning and i had to pay for this privelige. What a joke
Good base for visiting Newark. Generally good but basic no frills stay. Hot room, no air con. No restaurant services when we stayed. Very close walking distance to market Square so ideal for what we were attending for. Friendly staff at reception
I booked this hotel at the last minute, as l wanted to visit family in the area. Very accessible car park. I had a warm welcome, in fact the staff have been amazing.
The hotel was very quiet with very few guests, sadly there was no access to having breakfast. My room was massive, clean, comfortable with vintage furniture.
Generally l had a Fabulous stay, though for the first time I have been struggling with trying to justify the price l paid for two nights.
I find it hard as l don't normally worry about the cost. I suppose it seemed so deserted, a few other guests, the kitchen is having work done, so it has been closed. A good bar is available, lots of space.
My five stars are for the staff, always attentive, welcoming on first name bases, and really happy to deal with any inquiry and help to make the atmosphere. With a smile. ????
A second visit to this hotel (first one was pre-pandemic) but it is still a good place to stay. The room was large and clean. Parking and the location of the hotel is excellent. Shame that the restaurant is not yet functioning but there are plenty of good restaurants round about. (We went to the Beaumond Cross - very good)||And an evening drink at the hotel under the fig tree was very pleasant!
Carpet is pulling up I could piss faster than the shower runs cudnt turn shower off. Rooms smell like old ppl mattresses must av had a million ppl sleep on them I slept on the floor it was more comfortable. Never ever in my life have I stayed anywhere so bad
Excellent hotel in the middle of town yet surprisingly quiet. Clean, tidy and perhaps needing a little freshen to paintwork. Staff were outstandingly polite and helpful. Lady who checked us in was great also showing us to our room, serving drink at the bar and taking the food order. Next morning we were served a great full English and vegetarian breakfasts but a charming and delightful lady.
Thank you for a good stay and would use again when next in Newark
