Best KPortal Reviews

The cod, chips and mushy peas were the best I've had in a long time.
The staff were very friendly.
The only reason for the 3 stars for the atmosphere was that it was a chip shop, it's not a restaurant. Most people just order and take their food home. There are a couple of tables outside, in the summer it might be a nice place to eat your lunch.
Not for the first time I have been dissatisfied with the service and more importantly the quality of food from this establishment, today tops all the errors because I struggle to understand how a branch of McCoys Chip Shops can get it so wrong, I ordered a very simple pie, chips and mushy peas, the chips were over cooked to the point of all I could taste was fat not potato, the pie was dry, over cooked and empty of filling and Pukka pies rarely let you down and in my opinion not freshly cooked today as the manager had implied. The manager gave a very poor response when I called and said the potatoes are very dark and poor this time of year which is unacceptable as that would mean every chip shop from Bedgrove to lands end would not be in business. Poor show and it’s fair to say I won’t be recommending Bedgrove McCoys any time soon which is a real shame as I am a strong believer of supporting local business's.
Most of the chips were very stale and didn’t taste fresh. I ate the soft edible ones but this photo shows just how much of the remaining chips were inedible.
Always enjoy a visit to McCoys. Can get busy on a Friday night but the foods good.
For veggies they also now serve battered halloumi which is nice to see and tastes great too.
Not the cheapest prices at £2.65 for regular chips (£4.40 for large), and fish starting at £6 upwards, but understandable.
Sometimes the chips can get a big soggy by the time you get home (but staff are always happy to try and help avoid it).
Worth a visit!
Cash only. Great polite service. Has sitting on the inside if you want to eat there. Have OAP meals for your elders. Cooked with vegetable oil. Generous sizes. Chips are great, they salt and vinegar to your liking ( something other shops don't bother).
One of our scampi portions had a few empty breadcrumbs.
Curry and mushy peas are good.
Good little chippie.
Haven't been here since Covid. Ordered went to pay with card to be told we can accept card but prefer cash! Didn't have enough cash so polity asked to pay by card, only to he told go find a cash point. Staff became quite hostile, not to make a fuss did as asked only to find one cashpoint working within vicinity where others were having problems. My partner stayed in the shop, he said they lost at least 8 customers in 15mins by refusing to take card. Needless to say I won't be returning.
Excellent quality and tasting fish and chips. You will not be let down in the quality of the food. Fried chicken also very impressive.
Orderd haddock with skin removed, got home and found the skin had not been removed. The fish tasted awful and was full of bones. That's the last time they get any of my business. And I will make sure I let all my friends and acquaintances know to spend their money elsewhere.
