The food is absolutely amazing here. However, this is the 3rd time I have known them to close for a long period of time with no message on their telephone lines. We drove to see if maybe their phone lines were just not working but turns out they are closed for a month and the only way of knowing is going there to see a note on their door. Google opening hours showed them as open. It’s the bare minimum to communicate a change in opening hours to your customers and this is the 3rd time we’ve been let down by this. I don’t want to give 1 star because as I say, the food is consistently great here and I would recommend to anyone but please stop closing without any communication!
The Mayflower is a fantastic Chinese takeaway and chip shop. The main reason I have given 5 stars is because of the staff. All of the staff are always so warm and friendly, every single visit is with a smile. The food is consistently of a good quality, I do like to try different dishes and to date, I have enjoyed all of them.
I actually drive past 2 other Chinese takeaways to get here! The only minor negative point is that the decor is a bit dated. However, it is always very clean inside.
Tiny piece of fish for £6 looked like 1 piece of fish cut in half- and over battered! chips like cardboard! Wont be back for fish n chips. Chinese is good
Good selection of options. Fish & Chips fresh and tasty. Chinese food is fine, ordered a varied selection on a Friday night and peak time, had a little wait. A couple of the dishes probably were ready before others and so weren’t as warm/hot as they could have been. An average meal but Ok, Crispy Duck was a small portion and perhaps could have been crispier.
Not a dine in place, it’s a takeaway place. It seems like a family business and they are always very kind.

Ordered a takeaway from Mayflower for the first time today. The owner and his wife were very kind and helped me pick dishes which would satisfy everyone's tastes waiting back home. ( I was staring at the menu for a wee while.)
The food ( kung po chicken, sweet and sour chicken balls, special fried rice, mini spring rolls and beef, black bean and pepper ) was delicious. We will definitely be returning.
Mayflower is a good quality Chinese takeaway, come chippy, that sits on a ground floor shop front on the edge of Flitwick.
Mayflower offers the usual variety of Chinese dishes as well as standard chip shop options.
I found the rice to be of generally mediocre quality with the egg fried rice being slightly greasy, but otherwise tasty and the chicken fried rice using brown meat when I had it.
Mayflower offers some great mains though. Though unusual in some cases, take the shredded beef for example, I honestly struggled to take issue with the large majority of dishes. That said there were some. The chicken balls for example, I found overly greasy, on my try, and lacking chicken, with the sauce being odd in flavour.
The chippy side of things included your standard cardboard chip shop chips and standard sausages, fish and pukka pies.
That said the prices are pretty standard and well worth the money and I would happily take out from here any time.
