We’ve been going here for a good year or more now and it’s been brilliant. Tonight though 3rd Feb, we’re very disappointed. Chips cold and hard. Chicken chow main tastes different, doesn’t taste right, noodles aren’t cooked enough, chicken feels like sandwich chicken you get at supermarkets, and there were more veg in it before, mums chicken fried rice was horrible she said, and dad beef curry off.
1st time ordering and won't ever be doing it again.. the soup was incredibly salty, after a few mouthfuls it was inedible. The "salt and pepper" chips was just chips covered in excess salt... same with the salt and pepper chicken. And to top it off, found a small piece of what looked like plastic in my chow main. Incredibly disappointed as I ordered it for my birthday meal.
Never had anything other than a great experience from Magic Wok & this time was no different.
The food was well cooked, well seasoned & the portions generous. The delivery was on time & it was still piping hot.
The current delivery timescale works for me - personally I'd rather wait for well cooked food than have badly cooked food delivered quickly.
Shocking customer service. My mum called them to warn them that the meal they delivered was too salty to eat. She was ranted at down the phone by the chef in Chinese then they hung up and won't answer her calls. I rang them myself to ask why they had treated her this way and before I had finished my first sentence the phone was hung up on me. They clearly don't take criticism very well!
Ordered through just eat, it was an hour late, we were 10 minutes drive from the shop but beyond that the food was nasty, the salt and pepper chicken was very peppery in parts and badly overcooked, the duck was slimy and went in the bin, the onion rings were like doughnuts, taking too many orders and cooking it all badly is my guess, first and last time used
January 2023: I've twice used Magic Wok (today was the second time actually) this month. I found out from the lovely assistant that Chow Mein is pronounced MANE. Took me years to find this out!! Just finished the Chow Mein (stuffed to the gills now) after I added some black pepper and Soy sauce - I love salty things sadly. I NEED to know how they cook the onions to make them so sweet. When I make either Chinese or Indian/Pakistani dishes I cannot get the sweetness from the onions. Should I add sugar once I've fried them? Anyhow, this outlet is my 'go to' for Chinese takeaways.
If I could rate this service as a minus it would get minus 5 stars. We ordered a take away through Just Eat when it arrived the order was incorrect we were short of our starters for two (£10). The lady who answered the phone was not helpful at all offering to send out the starter in 40 minuets. When I told her that it was not acceptable she told us to contact Just eat and hung up. To make things worse the quality of the food that was delivered was not inspiring, it was cold and lacked flavor. Taking on board the advice given I tried to contact Just Eat to complain and ended up going around in circles. The order we placed was not even showing on our account. I feel we have been totally ripped off...
Absolutely disgusting service! First of all food was delivered late... then when it did come it was delivered in a car where the passenger was smoking so ended up not eating my food. Rang up to complain and ask for a refund. After over an hour of waiting for our refund to come back we rang the restaurant to be told we wouldn't be getting one as the driver denied everything! My husband ended up driving up to get refund. Ordered from somewhere else and I'm so glad we did in the end! AVOID
