I am a mobile worker and have my favourite chip shops that I regularly visit in those areas. They never fail to disappoint me, time and time again every chip is cooked perfectly. Unfortunately lydney chippy doesn't make it to my list. Very greasy and overcooked in my opinion . I ate all the acceptable chips and what is left went to the bin. Service was fine and the premises itself looks very nice.
I tend to arrive early and always find my chips to be exactly the way i like them, always hot when arriving home. Staff are always polite and go the extra mile. Always looks clean and well maintained. Been a customer since opening. Good value for money.
The question is, Is a portion of chips worth £2.80 from here? My opinion is No! Chips cooked fine but there wasn't many proper chips, It was mostly hard bits of chips, Shop clean, Staff polite but young girl what served me was to interested in not breaking her false nails off when wrapping my order...

Food is lovely. Chips cooked just right and lovely burger. Best chippy I've been to and the atmosphere is so light and friendly. The service is great too as although there were a family and one other customer and so I expected a bit of a wait but it was really quick. Definitely will be using this chippy from now on
Seemed understaffed, only 2 people both serving and cooking on a busy Saturday night. Chips were really nice but regular cod really small and batter completely soggy, equivalent to being microwaved, literally not one bit of the batter was crispy. Curry sauce however really nice and portion of chips was generous. A bit confused over the fish size and presentation tbh as it really let the whole meal down. Last time I came here the fish was almost double the size.
Absolute favourite chippy around!! Food is always spot on and cooked perfectly. Staff are always friendly and helpful, and don’t keep you waiting. Will always be my go-to chip shop!
Had fish and chips here few times now portions are big fish is lovley but the chips last few times have been very over cooked to point their rock solid maybe just not leave them in so long
Pie stone cold and wet inside, presumably had just come out of a freezer. Server more interested in moaning about a colleague and only had one speed. Also ordered mushy peas which I didn’t get. Won’t be recommending the shop.
