What a find!!! OMG this place saved our ride. We’d set off on a challenging ride (/walk) from Patterdale on a circular loop. Got drenched in cloud on top of the ridge and came across this place. The owners were both so friendly, plus served some of the best coffee and ice creams. Couldn’t believe the quality of this place in such a beautiful and remote location - outstanding.
Stopped here after a long walk round Ullswater and it is such a lovely little cafe with delicious food and an amazing host - inside and outside seating and dog friendly
On a very hot Sunday during a long and gruelling (but nonetheless enjoyable) hike, this stop was like an oasis in the desert. As well as serving delicious ice-cream, the staff kindly filled the water bottles of some members of our group. The location was also spectacular (and shaded!).
Very welcome tea spot on a lovely but rainy walk. Kind and friendly service, a lovely pot of tea (other drinks are available) and an offer to fill up our teapot, which doesn't often happen these days. Thoroughly recommended.
I was lost my way by miscalculating my hiking trip in my first Lake District experience. Thankfully this cafe showed up and great place to rest. Jass is such amazing lady, not a single word can deliver my appreciation after she offer me a drive to the campsite. Otherwise gonna stuck in the hill by 9pm! Thank you again Jass
A little oasis! Just what I needed on my walk between Glenridding-Howtown-Pooley Bridge on a very hot day. The host (owner) was delightful and so kind to all those who also popped-in whilst I was there. This place has been very well restored and is definitely worth a visit.
An unexpected find on the footpath along the side of Ullswater a couple miles south of Howtown. It was just opening as we arrived. We had coffee and ice cream while some other people who came shortly after us also had cakes. It serves walkers and cyclists - no car access here! The menu is, of necessity, limited as everything presumably comes by foot (or possibly quad bike). Outside seating has great views across Ullswater
Plenty drink and pastry options for such a remote tea room. And outdoor seating has a great ambience. Will visit again
