Food was amazing especially the sticky toffee pudding ????????
I have often driven on the A71 passing the Loudoun Inn and today decided to stop there for the first time for a late lunch.
I've often heard the food is good and it was worth the trip so I thought I'd put it to the test.
On entering the restaurant is lovely, warm and clean.
It was quiet but we were given a choice of seats (a nice touch) and we sat at the window overlooking the Loudoun Hill itself.
We had Cannelloni and Pizza, respectively, as a main course with bread with balsamic vinegar/oil as a side, (plenty oil/vinegar compared with some Italian restaurants I have frequented).
The Cannelloni was lovely, nuclear hot and the pizza was obviously freshly made in their feature pizza oven, the bread on the side was also freshly made and hot, I've had this before in other Italian restaurants where the bread has obviously been bought in. Having it freshly made was a pleasant surprise.
Desserts of Affogato and sugar covered dough sticks were both nicely proportioned and a perfect ending to our lunch.
My only disappointment was to see the restaurant is now up for sale, the Inn is a hidden gem and I do hope the staff relocate into Ayrshire rather than disappear totally, from the local hospitality scene.
This is a review of the Loudoun Hill Inn (not the pizza restaurant although that was great, too). We stayed three nights, in a nice, clean room with a large en suite shower room and French doors onto a little sunny terrace area, perfect for the dog (and us). The bed was very comfortable and there was tea & coffee in the room, and biscuits. Shower gel & shampoo was also provided and the towels were changed daily, and the bed made. The owner, Danny, and his partner made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was excellent - full, cooked Scottish fry-up with square sausage and black pudding. We were there for an event in Strathaven but this would be a good base for an area that has lots to offer. The car park is huge, and the pizza restaurant is next door
Went for lunch there today and it is wonderful. The traditional Italian pizza's are delicious and perfectly made, the staff are friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is great. Not to mention the interior of the building is beautiful. We'd recommend this to anyone and everyone! ????
Great view, cozy restaurant with a huge cast iron wood fired pizza oven,
Must be the warmest place part of Ayrshire!
Food was great,staff , fantastic.
A must visit????????
Service was brilliant here waitresses and waiter that we dealt with were so accommodating and friendly. I ordered the stone baked pizza which was nice but not to my personal taste I like a bit of a thicker base and a bit more topping for my money but I honestly think if I specified this before they brought it out they would have done as I asked. It's just a new place in the area and the setting was lovely really modern wee place.
It was very hot in there though as the stone oven for the pizzas is physically in the restaurant part and it's quite small.
Me and my husband went here last night for our anniversary. Food was outstanding To say the least and the staff were very friendly we were well looked after. The views were beautiful just a perfect way to spend our anniversary this place is a hidden gem and would highly recommended it to anyone thanks again to fabulous chef and staff .
Just had a delicious 3 course meal (at home of course) from Loudoun Hill Pizzeria. Honestly the best meal we have had for a long while due to the virus and we couldn’t be more greatful. Chicken wings and calamari to start were perfect. My partner had the carne pizza which was delicious and I had piri chicken. We both had a naught slice of chocolate fudge cake for afterwards.
All in all, reasonably priced good quality food. Thank you! We will return!
