Great atmosphere! All the staff were friendly and hard-working. The food was pretty nice as well the only negative was that I found a very small piece of tissue in my food but everything can't be perfect, right?
Also it's Cash only, not a negative just don't turn up with no cash.
All freshly cooked fish as you order. Properly cooked quality fish. Nice portion size too. Seen some reviews saying small portion....it isn't. Your full when finished and no waste. Properly cooked chips too. All the locals in the peak district use this place and you can see why. Its family run. Cash only. You can eat inside and you'll get a welcome from the locals. If you want a mountain of stodge this place isn't for you. This is how fish and chip shops used to be and still should be.

I visited Longnor Fish & Chip Shop whilst on holiday in November 2021.
Both the fish and chips were cooked to order. After a few minutes talking to the lady and the gent in the shop the food was ready and together with a side of mushy peas was all wrapped up and ready for the off.
Once back at the holiday cottage it was all dished up and still piping hot was absolutely delicious ???? ????
If you're in the area give it a try, you won't be disappointed ????

Called today with a view to bringing other driving club members ,wont now be bothering.
Ordered 2 lightly battered fish ,1 chips and gravy , and a large portion of peas,all seperate ,as we explained we were sharing.The lady serving couldnt grasp ,or didnt want to, understand .
Not a friendly approach overall.
Instead she insisted giving us 2 chips and fish ,in a box ,and peas . And not lightly battered as requested
The fish didnt seem fresh appeared to be frozenish as it was as stiff as a board going into the oil .also this chippy leaves skin on one side,
I dont like that personally ,others may .
I gave 1* and my wife 2/3* ,hence the 2*,overall rating

Really rude older lady on the tills, blunt with her reply’s! Had no haddock and chips just burnt! Really strange that it is cash only to! Really small portions and had to get a dominos after! Stay away from this place!

Don't know how much longer it will survive though. Longnor was pretty dead on a Tuesday lunchtime. All the pubs have closed and the two cafes were shut.
Consistently brilliant fish and chips - always cooked to order. The fish is coated in a light, crunchy batter and always tasts fresh and moist. The chips are also excellent. If you want to eat inside, it's worth calling ahead to reserve a table as there aren't many. The staff are wonderful - friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. The best chippy I've ever eaten at. Ignore any negative comments - you won't be disappointed!
