Visited Glen Trool for a walk with our dog while visiting Dumfries and Galloway. What a beautiful place it is. Wish we were here for longer so we could go again. Loved it, it's a lovely place to visit.
We have been to Loch Trool a few times now for a wild camp, and it’s our favourite place. Beautiful views across the loch, with a beautiful woodland area. We park at the top carpark near the Merrick Trail, and it’s a good walk to the loch side. Some fitness is required. Make sure you take some midge repellent if you’re are visiting during the summer months.
Small car park for up to a dozen cars at the start of the scenic walk around Glen Trool , at time of visit (Aug 2023) the southern leg of the walk has been closed off due to forestry work
Free parking spot with a lot of space. Would say for a car of 15.
The car park is well maintained and a good startpoint for the yellow walking route or the route around loch trool.
Both walking routes are well maintained and easy to walk and signposted.
I added a few pictures from the loch trool trail.
Not a massive carpark but big enough for 15-20 cars. The walks from it are stunning with different trails leading off in a few directions. Views from Loch Trool are spectacular in any weather.
It's a car park, not sure if there are any restrictions. Beautiful loch.
Well worthwhile.
Quiet and easy walk near loch trool .Great place for a visit.
Been here a few times , stay the night in my motorhome and do the lochtrool circular which is approx 5.5 miles, ideal place for walking and cycling, unfortunately the circular was closed today due to forestry activity and a diversion was sign posted for walkers doing the southern upland way
