Absolutely brilliant chippy, the chips were amazing, and the battered sausage and SF Chicken were prepared on the spot for us! The guy running the chippy was a lovely bloke, told us about the area and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend if you're in the area l!
I gave this chippy 4 stars because it one one of the best tasting fish n chips I've had in a long while it is just ur basic menu I like chippy use to be but if that's what you like can't honestly say I've had better in a couple of years the owner nice enough fella all in all I'll be going back ????
Whilst Staying in the area on holiday and fancying a takeaway/Chippy we thought we’d try this chip shop.
Being a very rural area we didn’t really have much choice and this was the only fast food restaurant in the village.
I phoned up and pre-ordered for a family of eight and the food was ready for me when I arrived.
The owner was pleasant and chatty and all eight of us enjoyed a selection of food,including fish,fish cakes,sausages,curry sauce and chips.
We all said that the chips were the best chips we’d had in a long time.
I feel bad giving such a poor review because the guy serving was great. Friendly, good service, but the food was absolutely awful. The chips were so swimming in grease that the paper was translucent by the time we got to eat them, they were slippery, wet, and chewy. The fishcake was inedible, it just tasted of oil. Most of mine went in the bin, which was so disappointing as I was absolutely starving. We will not be returning.
I have used this chip shop numerous times over the last 3 years without issue, but I don't know what had gone wrong .
We visited the shop this week and had fish and chips and some other food and it was disgusting, I didn't think it looked great when it was served and I wish I had refused it , but when getting it back to home and unwrapped it , it went straight in the bin, the fish and chips with coated in dark brown wet grease and tasted awful (see photo)
I'm told it's for sale and on that basis I can see why.
I Had cod, haddock,chips peas and curry for two
I gave him half hour notice I was coming in then went for a pint.
Then I went in and he cooked the fish whilst I waited so fresh
Fish was spot on
Chips re cooked
He microwaves the peas and curry in front of you one tub at a time
Peas inedible, the were off
Curry luke warm
It’s a shame it ruined 2 good pieces of fish
There was a hair in the food.
Everything was cooked well, and tasted good (until we found the thick black 1-2 cm long hair). But he doesn't wear a hair net, or baseball cap for example. But tbh, didn't expect much better, as they recently went from a 1 star rating to a 2 star rating for hygiene. I know most is to do with paperwork, but its obvious that it's not just paper work.
Not bothering again.
Well we were on a short break travelled 20 mins as nearest chip shop.

The man serving were no glove vprotection and sneezed 5 times while we were placing order which was off putting.
The chips were bit of potato with the odd whole chip if you were lucky
Fish cake disintegrated by time ready tomat it
The mushy peas again mush no whole peas and luminous green
Fish very greasy
