My experiences here are very different to some of these reviewers. This morning they opened promptly at 8am. The thing that makes this place worth a visit is the service. They lady that served me was delightful, they always are. Sets me right for The day! The food is good and not skimpy and it was a fab experience. Will eat my breakfast here on every Bangor trip I have!
Staff friendly and helpful, breakfast acceptable quality but on about the same level as Wetherspoons but for 3 times the price. No wonder it's always so quiet & all the Little Chefs are closing, people are smart enough not to overpay at the roadside and find somewhere cheaper & much higher quality 5 minutes from the main road.
No stars - arrived 18.00 on Sunday. Poor toilet sanitation. No paper, filthy bathroom, no soap. (How do your staff wash their hands).
Lady staff member very friendly, but manager Dane Rawlins INCREDIBLY rude. Berated member of party in front of whole restaurant.
No creme fresh, no pate. But not told until after order accepted.
Manager was so rude visit to restaurant curtailed.
Won't be making any effort to return.
If this is Bangor services then the facilities are poor. Used the unsignposted toilets in the Little Chef - they were disgusting. The roll of toilet paper was just left on the floor - some of the urinals were covered in clingfilm . Both hand driers were next to useless - I had to dry my hands on my jeans. Not a good welcome to tourists or locals. Needs upgrading. Could try harder.
If I could give this less than one star I would, the staff are rude, my friend politely asked if he could have some scrambled eggs and the waitress screamed WHAT! in his face which unintentionally caused her spit to go in his eye the food was either over cooked or undercooked, we had breakfast here 2 mornings one morning I had a bacon sandwich and a cup of tea and it was no more than £3.40 then next morning I had a sausage sandwich and a cup of tea with an orange juice and it was £9.20, how does that work? My friend had scrambled eggs beans 2 sausages and toast and it cost £14 he got the same the day before and it was £8, both mornings I went down and the one with brown hair who takes the orders told me to go sit down in an aggressive orderly manner when all I was doing was looking at a menu to see if I wanted to eat anything, honestly felt like we were the workers and they were the customers and when we confronted them about the matter they told us to get out and not come back, if I was the manager I would seriously be re-considering some new staff!
Had breakfast here today, the food was OK but the lady serving us had an attitude. I went for the 'olympic breakfast' - she asked "Would you like black pudding served with that?" to which I answered yes - and then "Would you like, toast, fried bread or both?" To which I answered, both.
What I hadn't realised is that she was offering me added extras that I was paying for, but it came across to my wife and I that she was just offering us the standard options within the breakfast.
When I asked her about it as we were paying, I was completely shocked by her response which was "we don't have to tell you they're extras, you just have to pay" - which was the mantra she kept repeating.
I really didn't want to argue the point any further, so I paid and left.
This really annoyed us, it was not a good way to start the day.
I'm sure that if I had scrutinised the menu, I'd have been able to work out that they were extras and what they'd cost - but I didn't. If she'd have asked me "would you like any extras with your breakfast like black pudding, fried bread, extra egg etc...." It would have been fine, but myself and wife honestly felt misled by the lady and it's just bad practice.....especially her response to our questioning the bill.
We called in at this Little Chef at Bangor on Saturday 3/9/16 and to our amazement found that there was only one toilet for the ladies as the other was out of service. The situation wasn't the ideal at all at the time as there was quite a big que that had formed. The area was quite disgusting as the roof area has dirty fungus tiles and the area near the loo wasn't very inviting anyhow. In fact the whole place could do with closing and redoing. It isn't inviting at all and if we hadn't been so desperate for the loo we wouldn't have called in.
Had lovely breakfast here two mornings running. Food great and staff really helpful. Slight delay paying as it got really busy but nothing major. I'd be happy to return in the future.
