Well past its sell by date! Lots of staff but still slow service and expensive. It was our convenient stop off point on the A10 but on this trip we discovered a brand new McDonald's a couple of miles further on, so won't use this Little Chef again!
Setvice was awful, they spent too much time chatting instead of working. The burger looked nothing like it should've done and also had most of the salad missing and both drinks were flat with no ice! Food was hot, that's the only positive I can think of.
As soon as we sat down in here it was one mess up after another, the girl who served us had no manners and hadn't a clue what she was doing. After she took our order we sat down and realised she had charged me and my partner for a third meal even though we only ordered two. Went to inform a member of staff of the mess up and just got an abrupt "ill give you a refund after I've done your food" .
Sat back down and our other two companions meals had arrived, minus the extra black pudding one had ordered as well as tea and coffee. Waited extra ten minutes and went to ask about the black pud and four drinks, got an "oh ill do them for you now" REALLY. Another five minutes later and finally tea and coffee and my order of black pud and beans arrived, we were still missing the first orders extra black pudding, our breakfasts with my extras and two more drinks.
5 minutes later our other two breakfasts arrived. In a space of a further 30mins we asked the girl who served us an extra 4 times black pudding, and the response we got each time was pretty much the same "oh", "hmm ok", "yeah", "(silence)", her not saying anything the last time we asked her said all we needed to know about the staff here, at one point i was tempted to go get some energy drinks for the staff as none of them looked awake and had no drive to do their jobs, just unhappy zombies walking around.
Only had small bit of breakfast and was fed up of waiting so went to kitchen counter and said to the man im still waiting, he didn't even know there was a black pudding that needed doing, kept saying "i can only do what is written down" so i told him we had asked four times and had been waiting 30mins for something what takes 5mins to do. As I went to sit down, the man said he would do it now, breaking a piece of black pudding off the main body using the unclean hands he just had placed moments earlier on the greasy covered walls.
Went back to the other three people in my group and told them im gonna demand a full refund as was disgusted by the service here. As we asked the passing women for the manager to explain our feelings she stated she was the manager, told her how we felt and got again an abrupt yes ill give you a refund and not very meaningful sorry. Went back to the till with my receipt and bank card, and the "MANAGER" (who at this moment is being shown by another member of staff how to work the till ????) saying the girl who served us is new and doesn't know what she is completely doing (why hasn't she got someone with her training her and making sure she is doing stuff right then?) .
Finally got refund after being told it will have to be cash because they for some reason cant do card refunds even though I paid by card. I didn't complain as was just happy to get money back and leave. As I got back to the table to leave with my group they told me with laughter my black pudding had finally arrived ????????.
Just before we left to take our money to burger king instead (which was a lot better service) i needed to brave their toilets as I was now desperate after all the waiting. I REALLY WISH I HADN'T, as soon as i walked into the gents the aroma from the urine and cr*p was overwhelming and actually made me squint my eyes, as i held my breath and braved further into the dim lit bog of stench i got to the end cubical and opened the door to find a gruesome site of faeces all around the seat and at back of it, at this point contemplated Internet searching deaths in the area as surely someone could not survive after producing that.
Instead i turned around and left as quickly as possible trying not to touch anything as I left in fear of catching something.
In all, I would definitely not recommend at all unless you are after a depressing food/service experience, in that case MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOUR ✌
To start off my friend and i ordered our food i had the breakfast burrito, berry pancake stack with ice cream and 2 eggs with potat and mushroomss. My friend got the steak royal breakfast . After we ordered we sat down and within minuts the power went out for a little while they also had it freezing in there. After about 30 minuts the food started coming out . My friends steak was so tough he couldnt even stab it with a fork... litteraly could not even chew it up. Our water cups hadent even been washed that they brought to us so we sent them back and asked for new ones when the new ones came out it had a full like 14'' hair in the cup so we didnt even drink them because we were so disgusted. i sat and waited for my food after he had already finished his entire meal. Once mine came out they never even brought half of my meal and never cooked it i asked for a refund on my meal that didnt come out and they hassled me saying they could not do a refund at first. Never eat here! Nasty nasty nasty! Not clean not friendly no good! Worst experience i have ever had in a restaurant!!!!!
Honestly this is the worst Burger King I've ever been to. When I was little I would come here often with my family for a treat then it closed down around 2008 due to hygiene issues. But when it re opened in around 2014 I was excited and it was just as good as any other Burger King, but over time the quality of food and customer service plummeted to the point where most orders are wrong, food is poorly prepared, sometimes inedible and the staff are rude.
Online it says they're open till 11pm but they aren't, I went there recently just after work at around 10pm for a quick meal, all the lights were on seeming as if it were open, I pulled up the the drive through waiting to order but no one was there I waited a couple minutes to see if anyone would show up I even called out but no one still showed up. At this point there were several cars behind me also wanting to order so I just drove off, but when I drove past the back of Burger King I saw most of the staff round the back doing nothing. They could of at least put a sign out saying they're closed.
There was a reason it closed down around 2008 and it's a shame it didn't stay that way. As of me writing this review there's gonna be Cinema complex with a McDonald's and a KFC plus many other restaurants that are opening less than a mile down the road from Burger King within a few weeks time. If you happen to be in the Ely area do your self a favour and don't go to Burger King. If this Burger King doesn't straighten out soon I can guarantee that the cinema complex will cause the Burger King to shut down.
we stopped on sunday approx 20.00hrs , Last time we eating in little chef was15years ago, and walking to this little chef felt that we was back in time , it's in need of refit, but good clean & lick of paint would even help, well that enough !! 2 staff at the time we was in there 1 heating food up & other servicing , well they just took are order that was the last we saw of her until we was ready to leaving & pay,
Food poor i had gammon + 7 chips + cold fried egg + pea's which was pipping hot & was the best part of the meal,
my wife's meal was chilli con carne + rice , they must have had rush on the chilli con carne as portions was small but the rice made up for the lack of chilli con carne, drinks over priced, overall it properly be another 15 years if we was ever to use little chef again, Little chef you need update ambience and serve quality food ,
Rude services
The most rude women I have ever meet in my life this person If u can even call it that swear at little kids I don't think she has ever got a order right in its (her)? life I think I've ever seen on one or two it spit in the food if u send it back just because she don't listen when you order to be fair when someone else service me its lovely I so if u don't want your kids swear at your food spit in or your order mess up every time and the list go's on dont go to bk if you see the fast food witch its about 5 ft tall black hair glasses and a very big mouth
Looked online before we left our house in cambridge and it said the restaurant shuts at 11pm. We arrived at 10.40, and was already shut! Very annoyed as we could have saved ourselves a journey! Advise they update their website of closing times!!!
