Very disappointing, the girl behind the counter absolutely lovely, hence the 4star. The Bearded male could do with some training on how to talk to other staff.
And don't order a chicken burger...... the most pathetic "attempt" I have ever seen in my life... photo below
Came here for the first time last week. Had the hake and chips. The fish was cooked nicely, but the batter was quite greasy. Chips were a standard affair, and nothing special.
It was worth the price paid though, and wouldn't discount the place again for a chippy tea.
One of the best fish and chips I've ever had. The batter was so light and tasty, the fish perfectly cooked it was flaking easily and still had moisture to it. The chips were fantastically soft on the inside and crispy on the outside too with a very generous serving of salt and vinegar (just how I like it).
I had a small fish and chips and it was just right as we'd just had one of the muffin donuts from over the road (which you also must try).
Recommend thoroughly, best fish and chips in Hayle.
Great fish and chips not local to area but that was the best fish and chips I ever had. The batter was perfect as I hate thick batter. I was actually able to taste the fish. Chips were great well seasoned with salt and vinegar. Best part of the food was it stayed hot from start to finish making the food much more enjoyable. Well done great work!!
One of the best fish and chips we've had in Cornwall. Had both Cod and Haddock, we preferred that Cod (the one with the black skin left on) nicer flavour and not as oily. Chips were decent but the curry sauce was bang on for flavour, slight pepperness/spicyness 10/10. Highly recommended if your in close to Hayle, we drove back to Hayle beach to eat, just watch out for the pesky Seagulls.
Most delicious crispy batter. The fish wasnt the best though and it still had skin on it. Maybe next time i shall try the cod.
Had a takeaway this evening and the fish and batter was well over done underneath..had alot of hard ends of chips ???? also VERY greasy on bottom of the box, not the best ???? for sure on this occasion I'm afraid ????
Very disappointing experience. Ordered 2 Regular Chips, 1 Cod, 1 Sausage and 1 Curry Sauce.
The ordering experience was poor. The person on the till was friendly but found it hard to hear over the kitchen noise and made an error with our order. (Sausage meant to be Jumbo Sausage)
We waited 25-30 minutes for our food which, considering the shop wasn't busy, in my opinion is way too long. We had to wait outside in the meantime. Luckily it didn't start raining.
We finally get our food, only to find 1 portion of chips had no salt or vinegar on (we asked for salt on one and salt and vinegar on the other), the sausage was missing completely as well. We had to return to the shop to get this rectified.
The chips were poor, the fish was standard and the sausage was standard.
While waiting, 3 different customers came back to the shop because of errors with their orders.
As it seems to be a trend for this shop to miss items from orders and we did not receive what was expected, I do not recommend this chippy.
