Eventually here,you discover that irrespective of age, colour, race, life is a sparkling miracle and grace is that fuel that catalyses our existence.
I really like this gym, it is nice and spaced out and nice and clean, please don't change the quality of the cleaning :) the showers in the ladies are fairly big and there are a lot of lockers, you need a £1 or trolley coin to use them but you get it back at the end.
The machines are very adjustable, some gyms I've been in I cannot use the machines because I'm too short and they don't adjust but I have no issue with these ones. Some of the weight machines you can choose to use one handed/or one at a time or both which is useful if you have weakness or less ability in one side. I like that the machines have a little screen on them you can use to show you how to adjust them for your height and how to do the moves which is great for beginners or to recap.
There is a lift.
Some of the machines, the treadmills and some cycle bikes you can watch youtube or TV from as well :)
Went to a job fair there,well organised nice place.
Although the library and the gym are very good quality with good locker rooms and showers, the thing i hate about it is its odd design. it look like an intergalactic spaceship you would find on star wars or something like that.
I love this gym and have been going there since covid times. BUT if you’re a woman who likes lifting weights for the love of god do not go there between 4pm and 6pm. The gym bros have officially taken over and they now work out in packs. They take up the whole platform and even if you do find a bench you’ll be surrounded in a space with 2/3/4 men to 1 bench as they want to use the gym to bond as they work out. Makes it an unfriendlier place for women particularly if you’re starting out on your fitness journey. The lack of gym etiquette is stunning. If you’re a woman work out at a different time. Shame as it’s supposed to be a gym for all and now it feels like it’s just for the dudes. Torn as I’m glad that they’re turning a profit but it comes at a cost to other users who just want to go to the gym and focus on themselves rather than have to work around what feels like multiple group therapy sessions. For the love of god avoid between 4-6pm.
Very new and well presented clean building (Pontys Armadillo, or is it a Whale) with free WiFi and wheelchair access throughout.
Gym accessed through the main front building via two security doors using your membership card, then up the stairs or lift tap through another security door. I've only used the gym on the second floor and men's locker room (honestly your honour) on the first floor with usual: lockable cubicle showers, toilets wash areas and medium/large free lockers. The first floor also has two other training rooms with spin bikes and free floor training area.
The gym itself is spacious with a large area of fully equipped modern training apparatus, some with large screens accessing: TV, YouTube etc via Bluetooth, plus an area for free weight training. There are also toilets, fresh water and small free lockers in the gym area. Available are cleaning non-aerosol sprays, but I suggest you still take a small towel to clean you and your work stations.
At least two trained staff available for all your needs. You'll need your membership card at gym reception to gain access, but staff are at hand.
All-in-all for an overweight male 67-year old, it's just what I need - extremely pleased :)
