I use this local service station regularly as it is really handy and includes a filling attendant which is lovely. On this day I made two visits as i was almost on empty and only had £10 in my purse (I prefer to use cash at this garage in order to make full use of the attended service).The pump read 10.01 and after handing my 10 note to the attendant I went to Alsager to get some more cash so I could put some more fuel in later, and go to the Doc: pleased to note that from empty I now had a 'range' of 80 miles. On my way home, 30mins later, I asked for "another £10 pounds please". My second fill, strangely also showed 10.01. I handed my second tenner over and drove off. I quickly noticed that I still only had 80 miles range????. I pulled over, stopped the engine and restarted incase the sensors had not updated but , 'range' , remained the same??? I did a U turn and returned to garage.
The attendant was adament he had put a second £10 in and suggested I didn't know the fuel useage of my car. I do, as always put £20 in, and always get between 160-180 miles range on the fuel dial AND the guage has never had an error. Due to the tough times we currently live in I budget for the fuel needed each week and know exactly the mileage we do and how much fuel is required.
I am certain that I did not get any more fuel put in my car on the second visit.
I was very, very upset when I got home. So I called Lawton Services to speak with the manager who was equally as unhelpful and disbelieving but he did offer the check the takings against the pump usage and would call me back the next morning.
He did, and re-iterated that all was well with his pump and takings. He intimated my car was at fault (it had a full service a week ago!), that I didn't know it's fuel useage and offered no explanation as to why there was no change to the fuel level in my tank.
I am angry.
My husband uses the car to go to Leighton hospital x3 every week for dialysis (another reason why we have to know the fuel useage so precisely). He did not have enough fuel to do this as a result and we have had to borrow money from my 94year old mother in law so he can get his treatment.!
Thank you Lawton Services for seemingly investigating but I will not be using you again as I don't trust your pump or your attendant.
There is nothing wrong with my fuel guage. It has happily shown me similar readings on every re-fuelling I have had since owning it for 6 years and those since my last visit to you.
Note until this incident I would have given you a much higher rating.
Had a lot of work done on my car about 7 month ago,whoever did the work left a piece of metal bar in my engine, probably dropped it in there when working on my car. It has now knackered my engine my car is off the road. Had two different guys from different garages look at it, they both said the same thing, it’s knackered my engine and it looked like a young kid had done the work, loads of silicone where it wasn’t needed. Wouldn’t recommend them to anyone ????
This is not the best place to send your car unless you have loads of money to waste. The guy who works there as the manager is manipulative, exploitative and desperate for money. He will say "this" today and change to something else tomorrow. My advice is: ask for a quote for labour and buy your own parts. Or just stay away unless you are desperate. No wonder why they are not busy.
Fast and friendly service. Also jet wash in the same place. Closed on Sunday.
