Visited Kirroughtree Visitors centre and took a walk around the yellow marked route from the centre. The centre is really nice with a good range of food, drinks and foods. The walking trail was so nice with two small lakes. All in all we loved the visit and would love to go again
Really good parking and facilities. Well defined walks. Great hide to see the red squirrels.
Stopped overnight on 17 9 23 in my campervan £7, enough room for 30 vans with good hard surfaces, you will need levelers. You can obtain fresh water, 24hr toilet and waste bins. There is also a bime shop on site with bike wash point.
Great for walking and mountain biking with the 7 stains route passing through, also a kids play park. Nearest town Newton Stewart, has two garages, Aldi, Sainsbury's and other assorted shops.
Rode here not too long back and I have to say it's a great , I did the whole of the 21 mile red/black route on a Saturday which takes you out into the wilderness, it felt very much like riding in BC Canada, i didn't see a single person until I got back to the carpark. Some of the features are quite challenging which is good and I'd definitely ride here again.
As this carpark is participating in the stay the night scheme we decided to give it a go and we were not disappointed! Arrived mid-afternoon so paid for a 3hr ticket and an overnight ticket £11 in the visitor centre. Really well surfaced carpark, lots of space, great disabled spaces with paths round them, and a disabled toilet and drinking water taps available all night. We (me, hubby, miss 9 and miss 6) biked the blue when we got there and got muddied up but had a great time. Then had a beautiful, quiet, starry night in a fantastic location. 5 vans stayed the night. In the morning girls played on the lovely park, I ran round the yellow walking route then hubby did the red biking route. Girls and I walked the purple accessible short walking route looking in at the bird hide and an unexpected second part. Negatives: zip wire swing broken on second park and hubby said red route was less enjoyable than the blue as they seem to have made it red for red sake.
Parking available for motorhomes daily cost plus an over night cost 24 hrs was 15 pounds bargain
Friendly staff and great amenities a welcome shelter when the rains came.
Great day out for walks, mountain biking and very friendly and helpful staff at the cafe and bike shop. Will be going again.
