Where my heart lies. A stunning wee village on the coast. Lovely walk along the front. Also a relatively easy wander to Rockcliffe on the Jubilee path. A good few benches along the front for those who need it.
Good countryside walk for the ablle from Rockcliffe to Kippford Lots of up hill and uneven ground forcing you to breath in the fresh air deeply. This is definitely not a wheelchair route not good with prams either. Nice views of bay, especially on the higher route. Once through to the Kippford "promenade" the beach area sparkled with shells. The bottom route will now take you on a residents only road along to Kippford. If you are less able, instead park the car in Kippford and walk along the seafront promenade. The road will eventually come to an end and you can go back the way you came. All on the flat so good for the inform of foot. Not for wet weather though but do go on a sunny day as very exposed to the sea. There is a shop and bar food at Kippford and public toilets. In Rockcliffe there are toilets and possibly an ice cream van. Maybe I saw a shop near the carpark, but they did seem to be selling food at their front door. In between you'll have to make do with your picnic! For those keen on walking by there is also a short forest walk For a leisurely pace I'd allow 3 hours round trip. Or just turn back when you've walked far enough. There is also a castle site of Mote of Mark from the 6th century if you're curious on history. There are carparks at both places which are free of charge
Beautiful location. Parking ok! Couple of pubs can walk out to rough island when tide out. (Please be aware though certain times of year, birds nesting)so ask yourself do you really need/want to!!!!!!!!
Beaches are mostly shell
A small coastal village with a short walk along the shore passed white washed cottages and more exclusive homes offering great views of the bay.
Gorgeous, peaceful, lovely little hidden gem of a place, can't wait to go back. Fell in love with it
