My wife attended for an appointment today. Booked in at reception 09.35 for a 09.40 appointment. she then waited until 10.05 when eventually the person stepped out of the room and called her name. she asked why it took so long and was told the system didn’t show she was booked in. Very poor for an overstretched NHS. Nor would reception take a sample she was asked to bring. Very poor service considering the surgery was virtually empty.
Update:
After adding a "new phone system" and an online request service, it's now entirely impossible to get through, as the phone service just reports a busy tone and all requests seem to be ignored via the online service.
Avoid at all costs, go anywhere else.
Original Review:
Horrendous wait times to get through to anyone to make an appointment, all the while being told to try to use a broken app which doesn't actually work.
Wait times easily in the 30+ minute range just to speak to anyone, then you have all their services gatekeepered by non-medical reception staff who do their best to turn you a away.
If you do manage to get an appointment they then manage to send you to the wrong surgery, and have the gall to afterwards "mark you as a non-attender"!
Everything they do is set up to be extremely mental-health hostile, and frankly, morally questionable; they've been told to have short waiting lists, so their unethical solution is to just have no appointments, withholding care from anyone registered with them.
Avoid if you can. Go anywhere else.
Over the past 30 years that I've lived in Lancaster and used this surgery, my story and medical treatment has been great. However at the moment the present phone system is appalling. Over the past couple of weeks, myself and members of my family have tried to contact the surgery on numerous occasions. Any of the numbers of the different surgeries from LMP cut out so you cannot speak to anyone at all. One time I was lucky enough to get through and held on for 25 mins before actually speaking to a receptionist. I complained to a very polite and helpful receptionist, it clearly was not her fault, but was told that if too many people phone the surgery, the present phone system, which apparently is used throughout the country for many surgeries, will just cut out. This is unbelievable. So, what do you do? I guess, if you are really desperate, you go to A and E, which is obviously not what we should be doing, but what do people do, if they need a doctor and can't get through, at all, on the phone??? This situation is desperate, and needs sorting ASAP, people's lives are at stake. I would be very grateful for a reply and an explanation about what is being done to solve this serious problem please.
Around 40 mins on hold before you can speak to someone. Wait time for an appointment is 3 weeks unless you want to gamble for one on the day but you'll have no idea in advance if you'll get one or when it will be, so trying to fit it in with work etc is impossible.
They've confirmed repeat prescriptions on the phone then sent completely the wrong medication to the pharmacy The pharmacy blamed the surgery, the surgery blamed the pharmacy but it took over an hour to reach them on the phone. Took me 4 hours on the phone to finally get them to send the right medication. Absolutely useless. Am switching to another surgery.
Appalling lack of communication. My registered GP retired and the practice told me nothing about it, I was therefore left without a doctor for months and was shocked to discover this only when I tried to make a follow up appointment.
A complete lack of continuity of care compounded by the apparent absence of adequate medical notes on my file and the inability for the computer systems to keep my phone number on file.
3 weeks for an appointment which was then missed because their website had false address information on it!
'Server not responding' several times when phoning then when you do eventually get through the message always seems to be "there are over 10 callers ahead of you" even after 10 minutes waiting!! Not acceptable.
this practice has gone downhill fast , could never get appointment with a doctor , wasnt even told that my doctor had retired , the reception staff are rude and unhelpful.
so bad i transferred to another surgery
The amount of time it takes to get an appointment is ridiculous. Even if you wait over an hour to get through the phone, you will be extremely lucky to even get appointments
