Ordered takeout as a birthday meal for six people to eat at home. As someone who has never eaten Syrian cuisine and often has a hard time with food I am unfamiliar with I was anxious to try but everything was so delicious I needn’t have worried. I asked for a couple of changes to my order and the person serving us was extremely helpful and understanding and didn’t make me feel silly for asking loads of questions and making changes. He also helped me to decide what to eat by showing me photos of previously cooked dishes on his phone of what each dish looks like. He then labelled my box so that we knew which one was mine.

I can confirm that all of this food is cooked from scratch as the kitchen was in plain view of where we were sat waiting and we could see it being made and raw ingredients being taken out of boxes etc.

The shawarma was seasoned really well, heavy in flavour but not too spicy (I am quite sensitive to spice and could really appreciate the way this was made).

The garlic bread was nice, prepared in house and cut into adorable little heart shapes. Chips were also good and they were happy to provide some sachets of ketchup for me even though I would imagine it’s not a common condiment in Syrian culture.

We also got a few dishes to share between the group, including one of each of the desserts which were both absolutely gorgeous.

While we were waiting I put my phone on charge as it was on 2%, I then forgot it when we left and didn’t realise until we had gotten home. I called the number attached to this listing and they said I could come back and get it, staying open later especially for me to go and pick it up. Super sweet of them and I’m really grateful they were so kind as to wait for me.

Payment is cash only but there was an atm just down the road so we went and got some money out while they cooked our food and there were no issues with this.

I would assume this is a very small operation run by a local family, they were very sweet and happy to help with anything we needed. It was nice to know we were supporting a local vendor.

I would highly recommend Gillingham Syrian Cuisine and will no doubt be ordering from them again.

The food lives up to all the descriptions on here. Just had my first take away and feeling full, but not bloated, even though the portion was large. Beautiful subtle flavours with just enough spice to make the tongue tingle in one dish.Not normally a fan of rice but this was so good, I could have eaten it as a main meal. Gorgeous Syrian bread is also highly recommended. To top it all fresh, crunchy salad in a great dressing. We will be back!

What a joy to stumble upon this place! Its really like a pop up in village hall, serving amazing homecooked food by the couple who run it. We ordered a selection of authentic (and vegan) sides, and throughly enjoyed the meal. There was so much left, we had the leftovers for lunch the next day. One of the best meals of our holiday in the area!

Mohammed and his wife welcomed us warmly . The Syrian cuisine was delicious. Fresh and of course, authentic.We enjoyed everything! We had all been to Syria so this was a special treat . Above all, Mohammed and his wife were so warm and hospitable.We encourage others to go! We shall return!

What a wonderful restaurant. The hosts are warm and welcoming. And the food is all freshly prepared and absolutely delicious with huge portions. We went on a Saturday evening and it was almost empty. Somewhere of this quality should be bursting with diners. Three of us ate shared starters, main courses and one pudding and it was exceptional value. If I didn't live 120 miles away I'd eat here every opportunity. V highly recommended. They also deliver locally.

After living in the Middle East for 10 years, trying this food for the first time brought us right back there! Excellent food, perfectly prepared, all the right flavours we know so well. Had a take away, generous portions, perfect to share like a typical mezze.

Decided to treat us to a delivery dinner, (which I don't often do as mostly they are very lack-lustre) and had heard good things about the Syrian restaurant. I have to say it was superb! Beautiful flavours- very fresh, with a good variety of dishes and delivered to our home for free as well. Plus a very friendly service, which always counts a lot in my book. What crossed my mind was " I could invite some friends over and order this!" I thoroughly recommend it.

This has to be my favourite restaurant, the meal was unbelievably delicious, fresh , flavoursome and flawless service. We loved the owners who ,when we left, felt like our friends.Our next visit will be with family and our friends…can’t wait. Thank you both, so much ????????
