You get what you pay for bog standard rooms old tierd but clean bad paint jobs manky sealant round sinks n showers finger prints on walls . Continental breakfast thats looks so cheap its not worth getting up for ...... staff friendly enough . Outside of the building was falling to pieces in places and dirty when a bit of paint n jet washing would massively improve the place
Enjoyed my stay. It was close to the motorway and staff went out of the way to help.
This hotel is perfectly pleasant. I stayed here for 6 nights in October whilst working locally. I have no idea what price was paid as it was booked by the company, but the quality of the rooms was reasonably high and the cleaning was thorough. I had a studio room which was spacious and had a japanese-style shower (side jets etc). The breakfast is wholesome and the items are good quality, although there is a daily lottery on getting a fried egg. The bar has an unusual selection of beer but should serve something you like. The food selection is limited and all fairly stodgy so if staying for more than one night you'll want to factor in making the short walk into Wetherby for some proper food. Fortunately Wetherby is well-equipped for high quality food. The car park is large and the surrounding area is quiet. I slept well every night. As a business hotel I would rate this as above average - similar in quality to a good Premier Inn.
The hotel has 2 good points - friendly staff and a comfy bed.
I was disappointed that, on arrival, my room had no tea bags, no tv remote, and the phone didn’t work.
My room was very tired - particularly the bathroom, which had badly stained grout and walls.
Breakfast was a shambles on my last day. It was supposed to start at 7am, but by 7.20am much of the breakfast was not ready for diners, the waitress was moving pastries onto the trays with bare hands, and someone was being shouted at in the kitchen!
This hotel really lets down the Mercure brand - I’ve never had a negative experience in a Mercure hotel before.
Stayed here over Christmas and we loved it- the hotel had a really nice feel to it and had everything we needed. Breakfast was very nice and lots of choice. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. Thank you for making Christmas feel that much more special
Have recently returned (December 2022). There might be a new manager as I saw small improvements everywhere. My room, as usual, I found clean and well presented. I still enjoy the buffet breakfast; any hotel going to the trouble to serve black pudding gets my vote
Easy to access. Loads of parking especially round the back, don't be afraid to drive right round the back. The hotel has a main entrance at the back as well. Had a great full English breakfast with all the works, even with fried black pudding (my favourite). Absolutely love my breakfasts here.
I fear this is the second time I’ve written a review for this place.
First off, the staff, the service, the comfort, the warmth are all superb.
Unfortunately a few things really were rather negative: my room didn’t actually close properly- it either needed the bolt putting across from the inside, or a hard slam to get it closed (I’m not comfortable doing either).
The bathroom (even before I used it) was quite smelly. At breakfast in the morning, although the food was good, I noticed when I tried to charge my phone, that the wall power socket was still 5 volt round pin.
Certainly not even near worth near £70 a night.
However, I really must stress that the staff could not be faulted in their dedication and friendliness.
Breakfast was great as was the location and staff. Beds were clean and comfy but the room needed some serious tlc (broken lamp). The iron and board were fine. Really low pressure for the shower. The bathroom was not very clean - out of shower gel and tissues.
