Lovely quiet location, really nice spacious cottage/barn conversion. Your own little wood to walk round on the grounds. Our 4 dogs loved it. Smart TV and netflix was a bonus. My favourite part was the resident dog. Lovely boy. Henry and Anna were very nice and welcoming and helpful with places to visit. Will definitely stay again if we go back to that area.
We had a very relaxing week staying at Johnby hall. Anna & Henry are lovely hosts and doggie friendly. Set in beautiful surroundings and very quiet.|We stayed in one of the barn conversations, it was lovely, spacious and very clean with everything you will need. With great walks through the woods which the dogs enjoyed. Unfortunately we didn't see any red squirrels.|Will look forward for another stay there.|||
We had a lovely stay. We stayed with our four month old son, this being his first time away from home and it was perfect. Henry and Anna are so kind and accommodating. The studio we stayed in had everything we needed. Plus the breakfasts were great. Beautiful countryside and beautiful old house. Would highly recommend.
Lovely place to stay, very quiet, lots within driving distance. |This place is full of history and character and Henry and Anna are perfect hosts very friendly and helpful. |We had an issue with the heating but as soon as we made the Howard’s aware they rectified it straight away and couldn’t apologise enough. |We stayed in the studio with our two dogs it is very spacious and well equipped. |They even offered us a late check out due to nobody being booked in very relaxed attitude and a nice touch. |We also had a free range breakfast £10 pp cooked in Johnby hall by Henry which was nice to experience too. |Situated on their own estate with a working farm with free range ducks and chickens roaming round. |Highly recommended |The weather wasn’t the best for us but it is February so that was out of everyone’s hands ????????|The studio is still full of character even since it’s conversion to a self catering let.
Fantastic accommodation! Excellent location to visit the lakes!
Very dog friendly!
A big bonus was the beautiful birds that visited the bird feeder including a great spotted woodpecker!
Look forward to staying there again soon!
Just come back from a week in the Studio at Johnby Hall. ||||Lovely place to stay and will definitely look to go back. Henry and Anna were lovely and friendly. Studio was very atmospheric, welcoming and kitted out really well.||||Great location to go out to visit areas of the Lake District.
We stayed 2 nights in Kelly Cottage. The bed was super comfy and the accommodation felt like the genuine article -steeped in history. We loved the gardens. Billowing roses and free-range chickens and geese wandering around the ancient orchard. Excellent breakfast in the Great Hall served by very welcoming hosts. Thank you
Looking for a place to stay on a long journey between Scotland and London, we decided to stay a little further north than usual to take in this gem of place which is full of history, rustic charm and is run by a friendly and highly intelligent family. ||||This was not your usual B&B; the place resembles a castle and dates from the late 18th century. Consequently, it is full of character and lacks the coarse functionality of a motorway services (which we also considered). The family were very accomodating before we arrived and were waiting for us with homemade orange cake. ||||We didn't just get a room, we got a very spacious bedroom and living room. The family set out a high chair in the living room and travel cot in the bedroom for our 14 month old son. It felt super cosy and we slept very well under several layers of blankets as it was a bit cold being January but we were expecting it in an old stone building so we did not mind. ||||The following morning, we had a sumptious breakfast in the drawing room served by the family and their children. Speaking to them, we found out mum and dad have both got PhDs and it was a fascinating chat. Their two children helped with serving the breakfast which included free range eggs and pork from the onsite farm. ||||After breakfast, Henry treated us to a tour of the new self-catering accomodation they have recently had converted and showed us the pigs they are breading. It was the first time our son saw real pigs and piglets. ||||All in all, it was a real treat to stay at Johnby Hall and we will be back as soon as we can.
