Hadn't been to Jimmy's for a while, but have to say, I've missed it!
I'd go as far as say, this is the best chippy by a mile this end of the city! I've never had a bad fish from here, it always comes put of the paper without ripping half the batter off, never greasy, just lovely crispy fish!
Chips were slightly darker than a typical chippy, but got to say they were fantastic! Best chip shop chips I've had in a long time, even for Jimmy's, they were outstanding!
Not to take away from the food, but just want to justify why I've marked down for service / atmosphere, see below:
Not sure why, but they still have a stupid covid barrier that's just a rope that stops you getting near the counter. Not sure if this is covid or to stop people sticking their hand in the till, but it just makes things awkward.
Good old fashioned chippy. Comparable prices with other local chippys which is a bit pricey these days but a nice treat all the same.
Great fish and chips. Don't forget to bring cash ????
I have been here a few times father and son seem nice, the food is steady, nothing special.
I would only go here though if you want to be served your chips with a side of grumpy, the lady who runs the place is condescending, rude and couldn’t be polite or crack a smile if she had won number 1 chippy in the UK award.
By all means try the food it’s, decent, probably left bitter by the service, but there are two chippys nearby where you also get nice people serving you and I’d say go to one of them
I had the best fish and chips I've had in ages. Nice staff and very clean interior. The food was well cooked and not at all greasy. I'm not going anywhere else from now on
Far and away the best fish and chips we’ve had in a long time. We had the fish in a box meal, crispy chips, fish was lovely and fresh not greasy at all, good flavour peas and gravy, and well presented in a tidy little box. Excellent service and value for money. Real good quality fish and chips. Really enjoyed
Only bought a portion of chips to go with my butties, they were fresh out of the fryer, perfectly cooked and at a fair price.
This is the only chip shop I regularly use. They change their oil more than most and this makes the chips taste so much better!
