My friend and I went to Irwells today for brunch with our children. Although the place was clean and the food was delicious, the service and the atmosphere was appalling. A member of staff seated us in an area that we can put our prams. We got asked politely by the first waitress to move the prams in closer if we could so we did. But 3 other members of staff, grabbed our prams in an angry manner and moved them out of the way, even though we moved them to the place where we got asked to. They also, kept tutting, and muttering under their breaths. We got rushed to order our food. When we were eating our food, cutlery got taken from our table from a waitress. We got made to feel like an inconvenience. Even though they have a menu for children, it's seems that they don't accommodate for children. My friend also got dirty looks from staff whilst breastfeeding her child discreetly.
Overall, its a lovely clean place that's does delicious food at an affordable price. But for our first time eating there, unfortunately we didn't have a welcoming and positive experience.
Called in here today whilst out walking my dog. Had a sausage sandwich and tea. Lovely. The staff were extremely friendly even bringing water for the dog.
Thank you.
The steak pudding was excellent, hence two stars. The staff were rude and dismissive and also looked totally miserable. All the food comes with really joyless, tasteless poor quality chips, disappointing for the price point. Go to an actual restaurant unless you have the overwhelming need to eat near overpriced plants and boring garden furniture.
We had pulled beef muffins, chips and salad. The muffins were thin and broke easily. The pulled beef was tasteless and the beef muffin as a whole was dry. It didn't have anything in it apart from a small amount of onion and pulled beef. The salad was mainly salad leaves with a quarter of a small tomato, one slice of cucumber and a couple of slivers of onion. I personally like crisp chips, but others found them hard. The tables are far too close together and too small to sit 4 people comfortably. Really disappointed as it was supposed to be an early Mother's Day treat for my mother in law. I've been before and enjoyed the brie and cranberry, however I doubt I'll go again.
Having been told how good this place is, I was looking forward to my first time eating here, unfortunately the reality didn't live up to expectations, the place was busy, always a good thing in my view, we were seated within 10 minutes of arriving, another plus, the menu looked great and I ordered cajun chicken burger with 2 fried onion rings, fries and coleslaw of the specials board, the food arrived around 15 minutes later, not bad for a busy kitchen I thought, however no the reality, the bun that the burger was served on although slightly toasted it was dry bordering on stale, the chicken meat in the burger was proper chicken but as for the cajun spice that didn't exist, and the coating was very oiley and disintegrated of the meat, onion rings had way to much batter, when you cut into it, it oozed oil like cutting a soaked sponge, the lettuce and tomato were limp and lifeless, on the upside the fries were passable and the coleslaw was good. Overall, I was left very disappointed with the meal, which kept coming back to me through the afternoon to remind me of my disappointment ????
Absolutely terrible! Cramped, dirty and very low standards! On first impression you may think, nice little cafe, but on sitting down, menus are dogeared and dead bugs and spiders hanging off the walls. I was offered a choice in sauces, to which I choose mayo, it had a solidified crust on the top, so asked for a fresh one. Could not believe what happened next, the girl came back with the top scraped off and just mixed up. It looked absolutely disgusting, completely put me off. Nobody asked if the food was ok and on leaving no thank you from staff. £25 on 2 coke and 2 breakfast, a rip off. Will never return and advise all family and friends against visiting. If I could give no stars I would! Posh nosh it is not!!!
I went into Irwells with my friend, her baby and two dogs today. We walked in and walked straight back out due to the vile attitude of the old blonde lady.
When we went in, no instruction was given to us, and we walked past two staff who didn’t acknowledge us, or tell us what was required from us. They then proceeded to tell us that we needed to go back to a table near the entrance. The cafe is small and cramped and considering we had a large pram, no attempt was made to give us any help.
The dog (yes very wrongly) jumped up at a lady to greet her and the old blonde lady proceeded to humiliate us in front of the whole cafe telling us to, “get control over the dogs”. My friends works directly with dogs for a living, she has complete control over the dogs. But when we’re left on our own to reverse with NO help from staff, yes we can’t keep an eye on them at the same time. We told the dog instantly, we do not condone the behaviour. But we also would’ve appreciated a little more understanding.
When we sat down, another member of staff proceeds to embarrass us further by telling me the pram can’t be there. But the previous rude lady told us to??
By that point we didn’t even want to be there and left. As we were doing so, she then sl*gs up off to another customer!!!
Absolutely shocking customer service and attitude to two young women.
Would absolutely not return to this cafe with diabolical service and zero compassion for their customers.
Great for drink and a cake or toasted teacake, but extremely limited menu for vegetarians, when we asked we weren't given any options for breakfasts.
