Great location with marked footpath to the Horseshoe Falls. Free for National Trust members. Some nice walks from here to the start of the Llangollen Canal and to the Chainbridge Hotel.
This is a super place to park and view the horseshoe falls (which is in fact a weir that controlled the water flow down river and diverts flow to the canal).
The path down from the car park is quite steep and may be slippery, walking along the field to the church is not so steep.
The church is well worth a visit, it has much history and some very interesting monuments. If you visit please leave a donation to help in maintaining it.
There are toilets in the carpark they are kept very clean, however like most public places they suffers from mindless vandals.
The car park is a Pay to Park but free to National Trust members (display your card in windscreen).
It's a short walk to the Chain bridge Hotel and railway station, but also a nice level walk down to Llangollen town.
Lovely location, steep hill to walk down, but worth it ..
Quite small Carpark, only 8 cars when we got there bout 10am but by 2pm when we left it was full.. Great starting point to get to horseshoe Falls...make sure you head down to the beginning of the canal, then through the pub over the cable bridge to the railway station, back over the viaduct to the Carpark
I normally park at the bottom car park, the one directly above the ‘Chainbridge Hotel’ were those steep steps and metal foot bridge is, as that one is free for as long as you want.
I think it may be the overspill car park for the actual hotel car park down by the hotel as it is unkempt and a dirt and mud surface.
Anyway that’s where I park, the view isn’t as nice as the Horseshoe fall car park, but it’s free and a 30 second walk to the horseshoe car park.
I do remember when I was 17-18 and we used to go swimming there, jumping off the trees into the water, push biking down the grass bank into the water on BMXs, so around 1982-83 and back then it was all free, the horseshoe falls was just a weir where the canal ended and the car park was just a field and it wasn’t a tourist place, just a place the locals used to go to.
Wonderful place. Quite a steep hill down or there are steps further along from the car park. A few spaces in car park but can get full quickly so get there early. A beautiful place to sit, picnic and even take a dip. A few water sports here too.
Cheap parking and lovely walks in the area. Short walk to the horse shoe falls and the white chain link bridge. If you go over the bridge then pay a visit to the railway station cafe! I believe it's 30 mins walk into Llangollen
Large hardcored carpark. Now £5 for all day (accepts cards) parking except for NT members (free). Toilets are open again ????
