Best KPortal Reviews

Lovely location overlooking Whitby harbour. Choice of seating on ground or upper floor. Warm, bright, clean , modern. We had 2 coffees and Rocky road biscuits. Slightly in the pricey side, the Rocky road was tasty but very sweet. The decaf coffee was very creamy and smooth but lacked depth. Where it fell down was the normal coffee which smelt and tasted of milk on the turn. The server was friendly, polite and offered to make a new one free but did point out it was the flavour notes of the coffee. He was right, the next tasted just the same. Pity, as it was not pleasant at all and if I were running this place I would quickly change coffee brands. Hence the overall 3/5 score .
This coffee shop was so good, we visited it twice in one day and I would strongly recommend for a drinks stop if you are visiting Whitby.
The coffee shop is in a great central location overlooking the harbour and bridge. It also does a small range of food.
We had a friendly welcome and enjoyed some very nice coffee, drinks and a couple of fresh jam scones. This place has a lovely feel, with tasteful seaside contemporary décor, comfy chairs, and even really nice crockery; no trashy mugs here.
The upstairs seating is roomy with some great views. Its a great place to chill and is good value.
Been in Hope and Bean twice over the weekend. Young lad with glasses behind the counter was just negative about everything. Can't sit there. Move to there. We are full?? Other staff on our previous visit (2 young girls) were really friendly. Dog friendly and a nice coffee. Atmosphere in the place was ok. Not much choice at the counter regarding food.
Popped in for a cup of tea at the end of a long, cold day, fossil hunting on the foreshore. A friendly, helpful waiter who provided prompt service. The tea was the nicest I've had anywhere. Perfect, exactly what I needed.
Really nice coffee sat in the window watching the world go by. Great views from the upstairs tables/window. Coffee is good and reasonably priced if a little slow ordering and being made. Cake's look good but I didn't try this time.
Excellent coffee shop. Coffee properly made and tasted nice. Cakes also freshly baked locally. Someone has invested a good amount of time and money on refurbishment this nice old building. The leather arm chairs are good quality and comfortable ????. Music system also good. Best place in town to visit for coffee.
Great dock front cafe serving great decaf coffee and a cracking millionaire's shortbread slice. Very welcoming for dogs and the young chap serving was really nice to us and welcomed our dog too. Will visit again. Thanks
Visited ‘Hopes and Beans’ today and was disappointed by the coffee. Having read reviews, I had hoped the quality of the coffee would be good but it just tasted like hot milk - maybe the regular latte only has one shot of espresso? Also, the food on the counter needs a cover as with the door open, there were flies eating the sweet treats. It’s a shame as the cafe itself is lovely - very modern with views across the harbour if you can get a window seat.
