This was voted one of the best Chinese takeaways in Hampshire last year so had to give it a go. Unfortunately it wasn't that great and not sure why it won.
I always have the crispy king prawns for starter and egg fried rice. The rice lacked flavour and the prawns weren't that great. It was also one of the most expensive ones I've been to.
Did not enjoy it overall. Better alternatives available in Shirley (see my other reviews).
Chicken balls were a little sloppy in the batter, the Satay Chicken skewers, the sauce was really nice, but there was a couple of bits of chicken that were so dry it was inedible. Also some of the prawn Crackers had a subtle flavour, but there was also quite a few that were overcooked and started to turn brown.
Always amazing service and the best Chinese I've ever had. Have been going here since childhood as a family. Despite moving out of Shirley we all still drive there to get this Chinese. Highly recommended!
Wow well done for not using plastic containers, I choose the deep fried pork loin in garlic salty, and fried rice it was good I thought it would be bad as I wanted sweet sour pork but they didn't have any. This was good had a nice garlic salt flavour and the pork was chewy but still good though.
Always super flavoursome, smokey and morish. Never any leftovers. Their crispy salted bean curd is to die for - haven't found "crispy" bean curd that good or even "crispy" elsewhere!
Edit: I'm informed by Google my photograph of the beautiful beancurd has been viewed 1,000,000 times over the last 3 years. It is still the dish I would ask for as my last meal. It was my pregnancy craving, I would have it for my birthday or any celebration, I've even joked if I ever got married I would need it served at my wedding. I cannot recommend it enough. Alongside vegetable noodles, egg fried rice and curry sauce, you are in stodgy heaven. The owners of this shop are also lovely, warm people and they always ask about the family. Please, please, try the chilli salted beancurd.
Worst sweet & sour chicken Hong-Kong style I've ever had. Chicken was inedible. Boiled rice was ok but expensive. How the takeaway has been recommended as one if the best in the South I dont know. Will not be returning.
Best Chinese takeaway around. I travel to pick up this Chinese as no longer live local to the takeaway. Also caters for gluten intolerance, very friendly family
I love all their food! They are friendly too very simple family run business and the kitchen is clean too. My faves are chicken fried rice, chow-mien, chicken balls and the big veg spring roll :) i love the smokey taste and smell of it very different from other take aways
