The initial red flag came with the dirty table that had been cleared but we cleaned it ourselves with the table cleaner and cleaning cloth that was oddly left for regular use on the shelf by our heads but perhaps the expectation is that clients clean their own areas prior to use.
Very disappointing food at this price point. The eggs were hard and overcooked and the bacon as leathery as a dry flip-flop. My partners meal was lukewarm so we assume there were kitchen issues although not busy enough to warrant it.
Food presentation was good although our server did go to pains to tell us the cutlery was appallingly wrapped and our bowl of fries shouldn’t have been squeezed onto the plate. It’s not something that would bother us though.
No one came to enquire about the meal and with mobility issues I couldn’t bring myself to go back to the till but needless to say I’d avoid it in future. A shame, it has promise but just not there from a quality perspective.
2 stars because it was edible, that said, I’m a veteran so not much I wouldn’t try to eat! The sparkling water, (canned) was excellent!
Great brunch spot! Out the back there's extra seating under cover so it's much bigger than it seems from the outside. Great mixtures of flavours and ingredients in a casual setting. The pastries looked amazing too but I was stuffed after my brunch!
Delicious start to the day. Wonder pasties and coffee. Great location too.
What a delightful experience! Me and three others were vising Winchester for the day, and chanced upon H+H for a spot of brunch. Three of us chose (and thoroughly enjoyed) the smashed avocado and trout on sourdough (one of the three of us having gluten free toast), which was beautifully presented and gourmet in taste. The drinks were all delicious and the staff were friendly. 5/5
Vibrant cafe
Good service
Great latte and cup of tea
outdoor seating is very funky, with outdoor heater to keep you warm
It's a really pleasant, independent coffee shop. How I wish there were more of them. Central Winchester does seem to be blessed with a few of them, but I liked this one. I've had better coffee, though not in Winchester, but the food and the service were really good throughout the time I spent there. Reccomend
We used to love this restaurant when it was the Square. It had a completely different vibe to it. However, since it has changed to Honey and Harvey, it’s like the magic has gone.
The staff are always consistently lovely but unfortunately the food is way below par. There is usually an issue with the order in someway or another. Last time I was in, I ordered a vegan breakfast and the mushrooms had shrivelled down to the tiniest size, and there were only two, the beans were luke warm, and the avocado (as advertised) was missing. It definitely was not worth the money.
This was not the first time we have experienced this. I don’t usually like to leave reviews like this but I do think it is important that the restaurant do something about the quality of the food, the presentation of the food, the quantity of the food and if it is a hot dish, to be served as such.
If something is out of stock, it would be really nice to have been told so that I could choose something else. My partner ordered a poached egg, and unfortunately they hadn’t drained the egg properly and it soaked the bread.
I’m not sure there is an actual qualified chef in the kitchen, I don’t think that substandard food would come out like this if there was.
The bookcase right smack bang in the middle of the café, doesn’t work either. I guess, what I’m trying to say is it used to be much better the way it was. If some action can be taken to bring it back up to that standard, that would be a good thing.
The garden area is so much better though. So I really love what’s been done there! Nice, decent heaters and comfortable seating.
Really disappointing, the menu looked nice and the place looked nice but… we ordered a sourdough toast with poached eggs and halloumi, the eggs were rock solid (which is pretty bad for a place which only serves brunch!) so we asked for new eggs, they didn’t take our plate away, we then explained our halloumi would be rubbery and toast/bacon cold if they didn’t do new plates and the service guy just said “well sorry” and that was that… someone came back 7 minutes later with new eggs, cooked perfectly now, but the toast was soggy and chewy at the same time, the halloumi was like rubber and the bacon was cold. It’s disappointing because it had potential to be so nice, my partner is a chef and it’s really poor to not take the plate and redo it, now if I was at weatherspoons paying a small price I would get over it but when paying £34 for 2 small bits of toast & 2 coffees, it’s just not okay. Safe to say we won’t be back, staff never apologised or really acknowledged anything, table was also not cleaned, just overall really poor.
