Went there on holidays with the kids years ago. Decided on a whim to go back. We weren't disappointed ice cream was as good as we remember, large in size and great value for money. Fantastic staff serving (13/04/24). Only down side was the 2nd flavour, but it is pot luck
After years of cherished childhood memories, my family eagerly returned, anticipating the joy of seeing the honey bear and indulging in delicious ice cream with honey sprinkles. But to our utter dismay, the honey bear was nowhere to be found, conveniently disappearing for months—coinciding suspiciously with the new takeover. As if that wasn't enough, the new owner had the audacity to strip away the honey sprinkles too! Our precious childhood memories have been mercilessly dashed, leaving our grandchildren in tears. How about ditching the worthless free waffle and restoring the two essential ingredients instead?
An ice creamy masterpiece in Tywyn!
We usually come here every day when we are in town and it never disappoints!
This is soft serve at its finest with the staple honey flavour on every day and then ‘guest’ flavours changing all the time.
Banana, Turkish delight, chocolate, strawberry, apple pie etc have all been on in the past.
You can ask for a duet of the two flavours also in a cone.
Serve size is always variable, with some looking disappointing, and some looking like a man vs food challenge - but it always tastes fantastic.
It gets very busy in the summer, but there is plenty of space to park and some nice benches to sit at outside.
Has gone downhill rapidly! Nothing else in the shop, no sweets or biscuits, no cafe or toilets.
Ice cream is good but that’s about it.
It’s ok if you are passing but it’s certainly not somewhere to stop before/after a long car journey. Disappointing experience
Excellent ice cream competitively priced. Staff are always friendly. Decent outside seating. I fully recommend a visit. Adults and children alike will love it.
Delicious. Been going here for over 35yrs and it's still my favourite. They only do two flavours per day now but you only need one. Honey. They do honey flavour every day and the other flavour rotates so its different most times you go. If you're in Tywyn then definitely give it a try.
We absolutely love Holgates. The honey ice cream is amazing and the ice creams are huge and the staff super friendly. You get the choice of honey on its own or up to two othe flavours. All gorgeous. Hopefully the new owners won't change the shop as it works this way just fantastic!!!
Yummiest ice cream in mid Wales. We both loved their honey ice cream and plan to come back for more!
