Mark and Mary are a very nice couple and are really helpful. We were a bit surprised to find that our one night B&B was actually one night self catering, but not a real problem. Basically Mark and Mary live next door and the self catering home is part of the terraced property. Two bedrooms, one shared shower room and toilet with kitchen (fully equipped) and lounge/tv room. All very well laid out and attention to detail is good. Very clean and tidy. BT internet available as well as Sky TV in lounge and TV in Bedroom. We were in front bedroom which would have slept 3 and again attention to detail was good. Nice bone china cups and saucers for tea/coffee making. Bed was comfy. View from window was stunning over the loch. Parking at front no problem. NW500 route is definitely taking off in this area and although Mark and Mary are relatively new to B&B/Self Catering, I'm sure that they won't have a problem with bookings. Mary did mention that they are probably creating an ensuite bathroom for the upstairs room which will appeal to most people, so perhaps check if sharing bathroom is problem for you. All in all, definitely a nice, welcoming couple and well worth a stay.
We stayed here on our NC500 trip. Mark was really friendly and easy-going. The place has quite old-school decor but is clean and has everything you need. The breakfast is cook-your-own but eggs are provided as is a lot of continental breakfast options, plus some tasty home baking! I actually preferred being able to have breakfast whenever we liked and not feeling like we're intruding - it was nice and relaxing. There was another couple staying too, so we had breakfast together and it was lovely.
Lochinver was one of our stops on the NC500 and we stayed at Hillside for 3 nights. It seems previous guests have stayed in just one room but shared the kitchen/dining/living space. This wasn’t offered as an option - we had the whole house. I guess this made it more expensive and a bit OTT as there were only 2 of us, but it worked well. It’s a great house (very clean, comfortable, good WiFi) and Lochinver is the perfect base. Lovely hosts too.
We spent 2 nights here on our NC500 roadtrip. Pleasant and comfortable room with ensuite. Also (shared)lounge for guests. Breakfast materials were provided but with do-it yourself cooking etc. However this suited us very well. Also meant we had use of kitchen for evening meal preparation.||Lot of care and thought into guest safety etc. in these strange times.||Lovely location overlooking the Loch and plenty of parking over the road. Hosts were very friendly and helpful.||Highly recommend
We stayed here for a night in July 2019. It's a bit of a different set up - with guests cooking their own breakfasts in a kitchen. They catered well for my gluten-free diet. The room was comfortable and clean, and our private bathroom was just across the hall. It's in a lovely location and we enjoyed our stay there. I can't comment on local eateries beacuse on the night we were there, all restaurants and hotels were fully booked for a local's wedding - so we couldn't eat. Luckily we had enough snacks in the car. Mark did warn us of this when we arrived and offered some suggestions, but it was just one of those things you can't plan for. Plenty of parking across the road. We would definitely stay here again.
Fantastic Bed and Breakfast, brilliant hosts! Super clean house all to yourself. Perfect, central location near shops, restaurants and pubs. Can definitely recommend ????
My friend and I were overwhelmed by Mary's and Mark's welcome to the beautifully appointed accommodation, a cosy lounge, large and well stocked kitchen and very comfortable bedrooms. The self catering breakfast is very generous with fresh fruit, eggs, milk, juice, croissants, cereals etc. The table and chair outside in a beautiful garden are perfect for that sundowner with loch view. We had a feeling of home from home. Great restaurants are but five minutes walk away. I live in Perth, a few hours drive away and would happily book a week of tranquillity at Mary's and Mark's. Thank you both for your kindness and generosity.
Mary and Mark make this place exceptional. Nothing is too much bother, and they are very keen to ensure guests are comfortable and have everything they need. The property is a two-bedroom semi-detached terraced house, with the owners living next door and available when needed. You are given a key to the front door and to your room. Inside is a comfortable lounge with TV/DVD etc and well-equipped kitchen (including fridge, freezer, cooker, microwave, dishwasher, clothes washing machine, and all utensils, equipment, and small appliances you could possibly need) - the lounge and kitchen are available for guest use at all times. The ground floor also has a double room with shower ensuite. Upstairs is the "family" room which is a double bed and a large single bed, with a private bathroom (shower and toilet, no bath) just across the hall from it. The family room has a sea view, the double room has a garden view.||||We found the whole house to be exceptionally clean and furnished in a modern style. It was comfortable and we had everything we needed for a good stay. Breakfast is not cooked - the previously-mentioned kitchen is stocked with everything needed for a good continental breakfast, including bread/toast, eggs, juice, coffee/tea (espresso machine), croissants, cereals, oatmeal, fruit. You serve yourself at breakfast, so this is kind of a quasi B&B/self catering setup which works well if you want your own space and not to commit to a specific breakfast time. The wifi was fine. We didn't have mobile signal (O2) but we couldn't get it anywhere in Lochinver.||||Mary showed us around the house when we arrived and explained how everything worked. It was especially nice that she brought through some homemade shortbread in the evening. Location is brilliant - right on the seafront with plenty of parking spaces just across the road from the house. About 5 minutes walk to most of the local eateries and shops.||||A very nice place to stay if you don't require a cooked breakfast and if you like your own space. (Full cooked breakfast available just down the road at An Cala, if you really need it.) We enjoyed staying here.
