Nice enough place but not for coffee or breakfast lovers.
Very odd they go to the trouble of buying coffee from a great roaster (Monmouth) and then have no idea how to use it. Flat white served in a mug so all I got was hot milk with a hint of coffee. Plus, odd that a bakery would have nothing on their shelves at 9am.
Finally, an egg breakfast sandwich is actually egg mayo rather than a cooked egg - first time I've seen that and again rather odd.
Overall a slightly confusing experience.
Lovely little bakery, food was good quality but a little slow on service, especially as there was only 4 people in the cafe. Nice selection of breads, cakes and preserves and produce was a reasonable cost (£3.50 for a bowl of soup, £4.50 for sandwiches & side salad).
I live locally and visit Shaftesbury regularly, but I have only visited this café 3 times (the third time today) They seem to have lovely cakes and food, but every time I visit (and this has been sporadically over a period of a 18 months) the service seems to be very lacking. They're never busy, but they're slow to serve, or get drinks wrong or forget something. Also every time I try to order darjeeling (which they advertise on their menu) they are out of stock. Do you actually stock it or just pretend?
Visited this quaint cafe recently. What a delightful experience. The food and service was excellent. There was a good selection of home made produce. There is a varied menu with a lovely selection of breakfasts and lunches. Will certainly be going back.
Best lunch in Shaftesbury. Excellent warm quiche and wholesome steak pasty. Monmouth coffee and homemade cake - especially good was the Jake’s bar. We will return!
Highly recommend stopping in this little cafe. Polite staff well priced.
What a lovely place, nice & bright, staff are very cheerful & nothing is too much trouble. The sandwich & panini we ordered were delicious. Cakes looked very tempting but unfortunately we didn’t have room!!!
Had a delicious meal here. Loved the goats cheese and walnut salad. Pot of tea topped it off. Would highly recommend a visit.
