This was a lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Staff ( Gareth and Irina) were very helpful and made us feel most welcome. The food was plentiful and very enjoyable. We stayed in the Annex as we had a dog with us, room was spacious and met all our requirements. We were doing self guided walks, but lots of helpful information available for us to use. A great weekend, we would go back.
We enjoyed a wonderful weekend based at Dolserau Hall, in spite of the somewhat less than summery weather. We were well looked after by the staff and the food was both plentiful and beautifully prepared.||Our room was large, comfortable and quiet, and we slept perfectly throughout our stay.||The only minor criticism is that, probably due to the time of year and the prevailing weather, we were initially sharing our room with a number of spiders, who we promptly evicted! Perhaps the vacuum hose could have been directed upwards into the corners when the room was cleaned.
Brilliant Easter weekend spend at the hotel. All the staff were great, the food was really good, good packed lunch. The guide Catherine was really helpful and the walks were great as well. They even managed to have three days of sunshine!!|

Beautiful week. Wonderful large rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful and the meals, packed lunches and those in the dining room, were excellent with more than enough to refuel with after the walks.. The hotel is set in beautiful countryside with access to many different walks as well as places of interest.
We had a walking holiday with HF - very enjoyable. The hotel was in a lovely setting with a peaceful walled garden and good grounds with hill and mountain views all round. Service was good and staff were friendly and helpful. Food was very ample and breakfasts were freshly cooked and delicious.
Booked through HF for a weekend hiking. This is a fantastic base for that with the coast and the mountains in easy reach. HF provides lots of walk guides for the area. Excellent food. Stay friendly and always helpful.
I have never had to complain about a hotel before but this was just awful! At around £200 per night for a walking holiday (although all they provide is a map) this was disgusting. The hotel was run down and old fashioned, plus our friends' room was dirty with cobwebs and blood on the quilt. ||The staff were great and tried their best (apart from the manager who was off for the weekend and when he finally arrived on the last day he wouldn't listen to any complaints and said we were wrong, and it couldn't possibly have happened!! ). ||Terrible food cooked in Roumanian style, which would be ok if it had been edible - was more like a cobbled together school dinner. The fish was overcooked and hard, burnt fried bread for breakfast and grey nut roast with bland lumps of butternut squash, soggy white cabbage and tastless pale gravy. My friend had a big lump of mould on her sausage roll so couldn't say hygiene was up to much at all! Couldn't have been a qualified chef on site - if there is, they should be sacked.||Then in the evening there was no lively bar but one member of staff that you had to chase around the hotel to find, gin served in tumblers with no lemon and then they turned the lights out if you went up for a rest in the evening and locked the doors at about 9:30 and left! If you wanted to go out in the evening you would not have been able to get back in - what ever you do don't go out for a stroll after 9:30 - especially if you have no signal to ring someone to let you back in. ||we ended up wedging a fire door open and drinking our own in the garden! Wouldn't touch HF Holidays with a bargepole! We understand that Covid has taken it's toll - but this is taking the mick - could have had a boutique hotel and eaten out somewhere nice for this price! Shocking!!
