Stayed with 2 teens, hubby and dog. The accommodation is basic, but that's all you need. A well equipped kitchen, WiFi, TV etc. Issue with the WiFi not working but one quick message to the owner and a solution was provided. The TV controller was not the same as the TV installed but we didn't use it anyway so didn't bother the owner.
The location was peaceful but be warned - the island is shut on Sunday and you need to buy food etc on Saturday ,(we knew this in advance and made appropriate arrangements). However, some take aways were open in the evening, but there are none on The Point. Can highly recommend Fusion Takeaway on Perceval Road South in Stornoway.
Lewis and Harris are very dog friendly and we found two very welcoming establishments to eat in - The New Lewis Bar and The Crown Hotel restaurant.
Some tlc needed on the property but overall no issues and would happily stay again.
The cottage was equipped to a high standard and was spotlessly clean and comfortable! The outside area is small but well cared for with individual parking at each of the six cottages. The owners are welcoming, friendly and very helpful - nothing is too much trouble! The location is excellent - easily accessed from airport and ferry terminal and a short distance from the main town of Stornoway! Beautiful beaches just a stones throw away!
Located outside Stornoway, this was a great base for our time in Lewis and Harris, with everywhere within a reasonable driving distance. The cottages are clean and spacious, with 2 bedrooms, kitchen and dining area. The only downside was the beds weren’t particularly comfortable. That said, it’s the perfect little home for your time on the island.
Excellent cottage outside Stornoway, in a group of 6 cottages in a quiet place by the road. Very spacious, with separate, fully equipped kitchen, including dishwasher and washing machine/tumbler combo. 5 to 10 min by car to Stornoway. Very nice hosts, were waiting for us to hand over the key after we arrived with the morning ferry. Private parking directly in front of each cottage. Highly recommended!
Ahhh, what to say about the great accommodations and friendly keeper at these cottages...I'll try. Clean, modern and comfortable. The TV's had Netflix and a washing machine in each cottage. They're sort of far out of Stornoway center, but we had rented cars. The keeper made sure each cottage (we rented several for a large group) had biscuits and milk and she responded very quickly when we phoned on our arrival. I would suggest calling ahead at least an hour to let her know. Plenty of parking. I would say be careful if you're thinking if staying here. You might never want to leave.
Very simple houses, but they serve their purpose. I already can't remember the surroundings as all other houses in town are brown&grey and everything looks boring and bland. But it was more than enough for the quick stop we had to make for a night. I would not want to live there for a week though.
Really nice hostess, the houses are so cute like Viking huts. Inside very modern and tidy and warm. Free wi-fi, my one had two rooms and everything's clean.
We had a fantastic holiday the self catering accommodation was excellent. Clean, comfortable and well equipped. Thanks to everyone who made this holiday special.
