We booked a double room with our dog for an overnight stay. On arrival Joe the landlord was very welcoming, advising me that as we have a dog we'd been put in a budget room, but that if anything was missing then to please let them know - we had absolutely no problem with being in a budget room, we're dog lovers but appreciate that not everyone is. The room itself was comfortable, clean and warm and had everything that we needed.
We'd booked a table in the bar with our dog, we were very well looked after and the food and service were exceptional. We were made to feel very welcome, on what was a very busy Saturday night in the main restaurant.
Linda the landlady was so friendly and welcoming, taking time out of her busy evening to stop and chat to us, in fact every member of staff we spoke to were just brilliant, nothing was too much trouble.
We'd definitely return!
Many thanks Linda, Joe and your lovely team for such a great welcome.
Pop in for lunch, an extremely calm atmosphere just right to enjoy your delicious food.
Even though it was 1.00pm, the dining area was not too busy, although many couples were eating.
Separate bar and restaurant areas also to my surprise it's dog friendly in the bar which looked very comfortable with leather sofas etc, will definitely try to pop in with our dog soon since the surrounding area is idea walking countryside.
Visited for my Mums 70th birthday meal, we had our own section through the back, we had a set menu prepared and it was lovely! The food was amazing and the drinks were somewhat reasonably priced, it was a mix of friendly locals and visitors. I would certainly come back
Many Thanks to Lindy, Joe and their team for hosting my wife Elisabeth's 70th birthday meal for a party of 25 on 6 April 2024. From meeting Lindy a few weeks prior to arrange the menu and seating plan to leaving the venue on the Saturday evening after a delicious meal everything was perfect. The choice of food and the attention to detail for those with dietary requirements was excellent. Everyone spoke very highly of the quality of the food and the function room. Service was fast, friendly and professional. Thanks again.
Having arrived at the pub before opening we were asked if we were going to be frequenting the pub for meal or drinks, we asked if it was ok and the lady said it was fine and to give her 10 or 15 minutes. Most of us took our boots off or placed shoe covers on, out of respect . I myself entered the doorway of the pub to place my empty glass on the nearest table when I was spoken at rather than to !
Never have I met such a rude manager in my life . Spoke to one of our lovely lady walkers in such a derogatory manner I was appalled. So rude . We will not be visiting again ! Another pub in the local area accommodates us on every visit and we have a Christmas meal booked every year so potentially he's done himself out of rather a lot of revenue . There's no Hospitality in this pub !
My sons booked a table here for Mothers Day.
We were greeted by Lindy, the owner, got our drinks and paid for our food then we were shown to our table.
The carvery was delicious, hot and tasty.
All of the options are served, I had a serving of everything and there was plenty of food on my plate, you could pick what you wanted.
It must get sound odd but all of the food tasted as it should, you could taste the cheese on the cauliflower cheese, you could identify the flavour of the carrots etc.
We didn’t have room for dessert but there was a great choice ????
It was busy but well organised and looked like there was plenty of staff working
The four of us enjoyed a Sunday carvery lunch at the Haven Inn today. Meat and veg cooked to perfection. Staff friendly. Manager checked all was ok and stopped for a chat. I’m vegetarian and you never really know till you get there what you will have. I had a veggie lasagne with my carvery. A lovely location and worth the drive to get there.
Didn't stay here as local but the food and service is amazing. Pub prices with restaurant service and standards. Hidden gem, will certainly be back.
