Liked: We stayed in the Roach Shepards hut, which was over looking the lake. It was spotlessly clean. The owners Geraldine and Mark were very welcoming and friendly. We thought the welcome pack - warm croissants, bread, eggs, juice and milk was great. It was so tranquil sitting on the deck watching the wildlife. We will definitely return as I didn't want to leave.
Disliked: Nothing to dislike at all.
Highly recommend a few days away at this location. Mark was very helpful from arrival to departure with tips on the lakes & showing us the available facilities. We all had a great weekend & will definitely be returning again, hopefully next time around for a dryer weekend! Fish side of things we caught over 10 different species & multiple carp up to mid double figures.
Me and my wife stayed in carp Lodge over the weekend.
The lodge was perfect very clean and nicely done out.
With everything you need.
The fishing was excellent, with lots of helpful advice from Mark.
Geraldine and Mark are excellent hosts and we will definitely be returning ASAP.
Thank you for a brilliant stay.
Just got home after a glorious 3 night break. All I can say is WOW!!!! What a wonderful place, the shepherds huts are so cute and the welcome food pack is excellent. We had a family BBQ whilst we were there and Geraldine supplied the most amazing burgers, sausages and lamb steaks (their own produce!)
My husband is the fisherman and he’s never had such amazing fishing! I throughly enjoyed sitting in the beautiful surroundings reading my book, watching the wildlife and sipping on the occasional glass of chilled white wine!!!!
Fabulous hosts and spotless accommodation. We will definitely be returning. Thank you both for a wonderful time.
We stayed in Tench lodge and had a really nice short break. Fishing was brilliant. Mark, the owner, was so helpful especially when husband had a fall and needed medical attention. Geraldine, the co-owner was lovely to chat to. We will definitely be back next year.
Liked: Had a fantastic 5 night stay in the Carp Hut! The hut and private shower room, small walk away, were immaculate; as was the flushable portaloo next to the hut for those caught short moments. The hut is very well kitted out and cosy; I slept really well and I'm 6ft 2"! I had no issue's with WiFi, mobile (EE) connection, and TV reception that were good for all my requirement's.
Everyone at the fishery is absolutely lovely and couldn't have been any more helpful!
Arriving by bicycle, with plan's to circumnavigate the area with rides planned each day that were thwarted by the very strong winds and bad weather, staff helped by providing a lift to get provisions and picking up essentials (chocolate) later in my stay, as the road's were deemed a little unsafe to cycle!
Despite this, the grounds of the fishery provided for a really peaceful stay. The wildlife is amazing, from speaking with the duck's, visit's to the bird feeder from the Woodpecker's and Tit's, and stunning aerial displays's from the Kingfisher's to mention a few!
This place is a gem and I wouldn't hesitate to book; especially for the cyclist's out there. It's a great base for jumping onto numerous route's in the area. But beware there are some hill's and you'll have to put the mile's in! I will definitely consider staying again to tackle those hill's! Lastly, thank you so much again for your hospitality Geraldine, Mark, Hilda and Trish; and a big woof to Jade!!!
Disliked: Cafetière/coffee press not big enough for my unhealthy addiction!!!
Just getting ready to leave ???? and head back to reality.
It has been an amazing stay. The Carp hut is in a great position with a pretty little bridge beside it. The fish cone over every morning and cruise around under the balcony. It has everything you need and more! The welcome pack is a most welcome treat ☺️ The views are beautiful, its on a small farm so there are some cows and sheep you can go and see, and they sell they're own meat on site. Each hut has a bbq and fireplace that goes down lovely!
Mark and Geraldine are absolutely lovely, always about for a chat, and nothing is too much and make you feel totally at home. Couldn't have asked for nicer hosts ???? Tried my luck at pole fishing (1st for me) and caught some beautiful fish and new species I'd not caught.
It is safe to say we will be back again and again
Liked: Everything is as described. The carp hut was soooo cosy and warm and the whole location is very peaceful. You don't hear any vehicles - at all! We received a basket of warm rolls and croissant on arrival which was a nice touch and all the hosts were really helpful and accommodating.
Disliked: Nothing really. We will definitely go back again.
