Definitely worth a visit to the old abandoned asylum to see it in person. You can park at the train station car park and access it from the railway bridge. Hartwood hospital has two parts to it with the main building being a lot further in than the nursing home. There is also this uneasy feeling that you get walking around the grounds of it.
The buildings are fenced off but it’s still worth a visit even to just see the buildings and the area around them which has become overgrown but still has the old signs and lampposts around it.
Great place to visit for urban explorers
What a place , lots of glass around but it is stunnin. It boasts two towers which one of can be climbed. Many rooms to explore and great views.
(for the free climb community) parts of the big building (the one up the back) is sketchy and I would advise that soft soled shows to be worn not hard and as always be safe (it's a madness)
Sooooo big and impressive! Knowing it's history as a psychiatric asylum hospital the imagination of what once was is mind blowing. Unfortunately it is all fenced off, but if you are in the area it's still worth the 5 minute walk to see it in person.
Spooky location! Worth having a look around as it makes for great photos.
Omg this is a must. No security and very scary. You have to think about how to get inside....part of the fun
Nice walk around the old buildings that are still standing, been visiting again and again for a few years now, sad to see it fall into disrepair like it has despite the clock towers being a registered / protected building, hopefully see some work get done to repair this soon.
