Best KPortal Reviews
Fish and chips worth travelling 1000 miles! The most fresh and tasty fish and chips we even tasted. Don't forget to take the curry sauce. Big portions.
This has to be the worst fish and chip shop I have ever been to. The service was shocking, front of house run by a bunch of kids who have not got a clue what they are doing. After 45 mins we eventually got our food. Absolutely disgusting, fish batter soggy, white pudding
was like mush, gravy cold and lumpy. Will be contacting my bank for a full refund.
Friendly staff, quick service, polite as well. Lovely to see you locals being trained by other young folk, great skills being taught.
Fish and chips were freshly cooked and generous portions. Very tasty xx
Not sure where all these excellent reviews come from because this is the worst chippy I have ever been to in my life. I am local and visited a few times in the past where the food was ‘ok’. Tonight’s was a disaster from start to finish. £60 order, no change given, sour faced teenagers serving, no update on order or communication. Stood there for 45 mins before asking if the order being intermittently looked at was mine, grunt in response. Salt and vinegar added despite saying I didn’t want any. And the food…. Well…. Awful. Chips horrible, some raw and some soggy and the fish was literally filled with grease. Almost all of the order went in the bin. Never again. AVOID!
Wick was out first North Coast 500 stop. We had no idea what to expect during the off-season in February. The town seemed almost deserted, it was so quiet. Turns out, everyone was at the Harbour Chip Shop. And with good reason. The food was AMAZING. Locals were parked outside, eating their fish and fries in their cars. We resorted to a bench in de harbour to eat our fish&chips. The fries were great and the fish was perfectly fried, crunchy and delicious. The staff was kind and efficient, food was ready in no time.
Quite possibly the most excellent fish supper I've ever had! Consistently good, sea-fresh, and fried to order. Friendly staff. Massive portions. The large fish supper is huge and a bargain at just £8. My Other Half and I visit every weekend and wish they stayed open a wee bit later but that's just a minor grumble. Well worth our drive to get here as they deserve every one of the 5 stars awarded, and more!
Never a hit or miss. Superb!
Excellent, Fish and chips also red pudding was really tasty, home made chips too.
I would rate this fish supper a 4.4 out of 5. My son and I opted for the large fish supper (two fish, £8.00 at time of writing) rather than the standard single fish (£6.00). Beautiful, very tasty, thick flaky fish. Batter was good, but not my favourite. Crisp on the outside, but a bit thick and stodgy in places on the inside, as well as a bit greasy. Still very tasty though! Chips pretty crispy on outside, though some a bit limp. Generally a very good fish supper. Certainly plenty of lovely fish to enjoy. A couple of negatives though.... no paper napkins supplied to take care of salty/greasy fingers... no forks provided either. Would have been nice to at least have a napkin to wipe up after licking my fingers clean! LOL.
