I have never had a chippy tea like this! Hoping for fresh food as we got there early, the food we were served was like it had been held in the hot cupboard for 3 days! Using cheap products with no taste doesnt end well! Threw the fish in the bin on the first bite, batter was soggy, tasted awful! Curry sauce had the consistency and taste of water...also went straight in the bin! Chips...limp and greasy. No atmosphere, more interested in watching the t.v , no talk between the team of staff. If you don't want to do a good job and have great reviews then I ask....why are you doing it? There is simply no pride in your work! What a waste of money and time! Never ever buying from you again or recommending you to anyone!
To start with the woman behind the counter wasn’t exactly approachable, especially when the woman said one word to me, “yeah” and then proceeded to thrust the food at me. Ordered 2 sausage for the kids with a small chips but had to give them some of my chips, their plates looked empty with the 5 soggy chips sat in the middle of it. I had a battered sausage which wasn’t great and the fish for my wife which was soggy and tasteless. All in all, I wouldn’t bother, the place needs a new owner and staff.
Visiting so decided for Fish and Chips, should have got worried when we ordered a pie, which was brought out from the back and stuck in the microwave to warm up... Chips were limp and greasy as was the fish, batter was not crispy at all, just dripping in oil.
Worst chippy tea I've had in a long time.
Went Friday lunchtime, café empty which lowered expectations but remained open-minded. Fish and chips tasted better than they looked but nothing remarkable. The mushy peas looked grey and weren't nice at all. The lady serving may as well have been mute - I asked if I needed to order sauces or whether they were at the table and she just didn't respond. Food served quickly but we did have to wait a while as no one was there to take our order. Wouldn't go back.
Fabulously fresh haddock cooked to order. Chips lovely and crisp on outside and soft and fluffy on inside. Mushy peas nice and tasty. No problem with service. Pleasant and friendly .
Food is excellent and everything you'd expect from a good chippy. Staff are all lovely and respectful
Used to eat here quite often with my dad. Food was always very good and staff were pleasant and cheerful. What a difference recently when we called on a Saturday lunch time to find the cafe completely empty. A girl came through to take our order, she didn't speak and seemed that it was a chore to serve. We both had fish and chips. Chips were fine but the fish was very poor quality as was the batter. I hope that this was a one off but judging by the empty cafe I don't think it was. We were the only people in the whole time we were there. Not what you would expect on a Saturday lunch time.
I had been looking forward to trying the Cod and Chips given the positive reviews. I was very disappointed!
The fish was very small which I get everything has become more expensive. However the fish didn't taste very fresh, it was VERY fishy tasting and chips were overly greasy! I had 1 bite of the fish and couldn't touch it anymore.
Sadly the staff who served me were not very welcoming, didn't say hello and just glared the whole time. As someone who despises being told to smile constantly, it is not something I would ever say to someone but equally I do not expect to be made to feel unwelcome by being glared at!
