Hiked here after setting up camp nearby. The landlord and his Son are absolute gents - couldn't be more welcoming. A beautiful and traditional true Welsh pub and a cracking pint of Butty Bach - very enjoyable sitting on a picnic bench in the sun, looking out over the nearby hills and watching new lambs playing in the fields. Wish I lived closer!
We arrived bedraggled at this pub after a wet and windy 3 day hike (and camp) across the black mountains. We were made very welcome by the landlord and his son who was serving behind the bar. The beer was great and the food exactly what we needed. We played a bit of darts (badly) and the other guests were very friendly and funny. A very authentic pub with a great atmosphere and a nice fire. Will surely visit again.
We luckily found this lovely place whilst driving from Abergavenny to Hay-on-Wye, along the Gospel Pass.
We had a tasty lunch- cheese toasty with salad and a Butty Bach.
A cosy, welcoming pub, with a garden commanding great views. Very friendly staff, well worth a visit!
Lovely traditional pub with great pint of Butty and cheap camping ground next door for our campervan. Landlord even helped tow us out as we got stuck! Will visit again as great area to explore.
Finished our 3-day walk at the Half Moon Hotel. Owner was friendly and didn't mind the state of us.
Simple food but very tasty and the portion was decent.
Friendly atmosphere from the owners and the customers. I'd visit again whenever I visit LLanthony again.
Have always loved the half moon..., simple old school rural pub - the real thing, not just a homage to it..stayed over once, all was great..have had food several times - always well priced, generous and properly cooked...had great conversations with folks in the bar..
Great to the pub open again. Good beer, very good cheesey chips and great hospitality. Thank you.
We've stopped here a couple of times whilst cycling the Gospel pass. Great straight up pub food at honest prices. They serve a lovely pint of Butty Bach too. ????
