Halewood Fish Bar, also known as Dave's Chippy, has been my go-to spot for a number of years while I resided in the area. Even after relocating, I find myself stopping by for their salt and pepper wings and chips whenever I'm in the vicinity.
Approaching this review for The Chippy Tour, I initially had a five-star rating in mind. Unfortunately, during this particular visit – the only one I can base this review on – I experienced disappointment with the batter, especially on the fish, which was somewhat dry, and not in a crispy way.
Moving past this, this chippy offers a delightful selection of food, catering to a wide range of tastes, and remains a popular choice among the local community.

I'm improving my review as there's a new tall girl who's been working here for at least a few weeks who's much more friendly than the miserable older woman who served us the first time we came here (not the Asian lady - she's also lovely and friendly too).

Miserable impolite and hostile staff. Also notice the fake 5* reviews from people who have only reviewed one place.
Regular user, but tried phone orders a few times and always something missing, pity they don’t do a fruit curry,chips mostly cooked fresh no matter when you go , can be long waits even if not many customers. They tend to prioritise phone orders even if your present and order a small item you can be left waiting , cash only which can be inconvenient,and they can’t trust the staff as they always have to show change before giving it to customer , never seen this anywhere else before.prices on board are not updated and you get charged sometimes more than what’s shown .a clean looking place.food sometimes a letdown , ie I ordered kung po ( hot) and when I got home they had used no chillies.still using packaging that is now banned.also shame they don’t do delivery in this day and age.

Ordered the combo and seaweed and ribs were missed, so only got 2/3 of a combo
The food in this place is always of a high quality. I would recommend the fish and chips although the Chinese meals are lovely also. The owner Kim is always up for a laugh and so welcoming as is Dave her brother who helps out now and then.
Best Chinese meals for miles. You can order by phone for meals and they will give you a set time to pick up.Fried rice dishes fantastic. Staff very friendly recommend this fish bar to anyone
the food is nice and the owner makes it better so this is the best chippy u can have. I love this a lot I recomend going here. this is very cheap and good.
