£15 for standard Sausage egg n' chips?
The prices here are ridiculous, basically because the pub is guaranteed tourists hiking the local trails and leaving Dan Yr ogof caves, so they really don't have to try hard to be competitive.
But still, the menu is extremely pedestrian, just slightly above school dinners.
The pub is lovely and cosy, with a *half* decent playground for kids.
With a little effort and investment, this place might actually be good, but I recommend giving it a wide berth to be honest.
4 of the most bog-standard meals, no drinks or desert =£56
Nope.
A proper pub selling good old fashioned pub grub, run by one family and all home made food including the chips.
Service was good food seemed to be cooked fresh to order,
Would recommend the chicken curry.
Sherry trifle was lovely to with plenty of sherry in it.
Apple crumble would probably be best served cold with cream or ice cream.
Pub is well kept lovely and clean.
Just off the main road down from Dan yr Ogof show caves.
Well worth a visit if your passing.
Called in yesterday after a long walk around the hills. had a meal outside as we had our dog with us. Lovely looking old pub. Was spotless inside. Woman behind the bar was so friendly and inviting. Food was lovely ???? and served really quickly. Even had proper chips ????. All washed down with a nice cold pint. Would definitely recommend a visit ????
Came in off the road for a drink out of the rain. Barman very chatty and helpful with advice for local area. He offered us food but there were no vegan or vegetarian options, which is the reason for 4*. The food seemed to be cooked fresh. Opening hours seem to vary with how busy it is. We would return for a drink, and also for food if they could add some vegan options, e.g homemade veg chilli/risotto or a veggie burger would be fab ????.
This is our 4th time staying in this area but 1st time to this pub. We had our evening meal here which was absolutely lovely. Very friendly and will definitely be returning !
Great find today on our walk around Craig y nos Country Park.
Warm welcome and lovely chat with the landlord.
Food was delicious homemade beef and ale stew and real homemade chips.
Had to sample dessert as they were homemade also and the sherry trifle and apple crumble did not disappoint.
Will most certainly be returning when on future walks in the area.
Very clean and organized as you would expect during covid.
Traditional pub with proper pub food.
Staff very attentive to service and open to accommodate choice inside or outside tables.
Food was very good with homemade choices and real chips.
Puddings had to have three between two of us as couldn't decide between rice pudding or trifle ????????.
Good prices, quick service and the beer tastes good.
Great meal at the Gwyn Arms. We both had the home cooked steak stew with hand made chips and peas and shared the sticky toffee pudding which was amazing. Like most business at the moment they are struggling, so if eating out well worth giving it a go. Lovely talking to the family / owners - very friendly. Will be visiting again when back in Wales for some hill walking.
