Gino's has become a bit of a tradition in my family: most weekends I will meet my parents here for lunch.
The menu is straightforward: either simple lunchtime staples such as baguettes and baked potatoes, or classic Italian dishes. There is plenty of choice on the normal menu and usually a couple of specials as well, which tend to be a bit more 'exotic' (lobster linguine with garlic, chilli, white wine and cherry tomatoes, for example).
The bruschetta is excellent: crusty bread with well seasoned tomatoes, basil and garlic.
I usually have the penne arribiata, which has a nice chilli kick to it (if you like it spicy, always best to mention that).
Rounded off with a soft drink and a double espresso for approx. £16, it is definitely value for money.
Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming.
Really nice food and, after sending pics of the menu to my very italy-savvy partner, very authentic too! Actual garlic bread rather than a baguette with garlic butter on it, etc.
Would definitely recommend.
Fab little Italian, food was delicious, service was friendly. Food was served really quickly (I wish it had taken longer as it was so good I wanted dining to take longer).
Great restaurant to eat after hiking to the castle. Cozy atmosphere and great food. Quite affordable too.
We stopped in for a very late lunch, the place was empty but the service was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed their meals, I had the penne all'Arrabiata (pictured) and left full and satisfied. I would definitely return again.
Everything was perfect, ended over there by change, after we visited Stonehaven and Dunnottar for our first time. Next time we visit the castle we know where to eat a great pasta and drink a good wine. Thank you Gino, keep it up !
We visited Gino's tonight, as we love trying local businesses. Overall, we found the experience to be quite cosy and comfortable, we had a good time. Gino's menu has a wide variety of options making the menu suitable for many. Furthermore, the front of house staff were kind and did their jobs, however at no point were we asked about the quality of our food and if we were enjoying it, until we were leaving the restaurant. On this note however, we did not have any complaints with our food and found it too be very enjoyable and fresh + the prices were excellent value for money.
Unfortunately, we felt disappointed that the chef greeted all of the tables apart from ours. This made us feel uncomfortable and in a sense 'unwelcomed'. Potentially two young men aren't common in his restaurant, I am not sure?
My partner and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a local place to eat in Stonehaven. Prices are good value for money, staff accommodate guests and it gives the feel of a authentic Italian restaurant.
Very cozy Italian restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. Tagliatelle al salmone was delicious.
