OH MY! OH MY! OH MY DAYS!!!!!!
I had to apologise to the team at Gear for mentioning another pasty company that I claimed to do the best pasty I've ever had. I have never been so wrong!
In my 46 years of living on this planet, I have never had a pasty that tasted as good as the one I've just demolished. I've also never had a Bacon & Cheese turnover as good as I've just had.
I pre ordered (advised). When we arrived they came straight out of the oven. I then spent 20+ minutes tucking in to a lava hot pasty with my bacon turnover for starters. The turnover was filled with a plentiful supply of bacon and the cheese was oozing out in good quantity. What a starter!!!!! ????
But, the pasty, oh the pasty. Filled, absolutely loaded in fact, with veg grown on site and the chunks of steak were sensational and melt in the mouth.
My son and I sat in our van munching away. In the 25 minutes we were sat at the road side there was a constant stream of traffic flowing in to pick up their Cornish delights. There must have been 20-30 cars rock up in that time.
When it comes to food, and good food at that, I tell it how it is when reviewing. I challenge anyone, anywhere in the world to find a better tasting pasty than what Gear produces. I'm confident in stating that you'd be hard pressed to find a better one.
Well, I'll be buying some ice blocks during our week away in Cornwall, and will be taking some of these Big Daddy Pasties back over the county lines to our shire of Devon.
What a pasty!!!! My colleague is 100% correct, this has to be one of the best pasties. It is a trek to get to but definitely worth the journey. The surroundings are beautiful as well. They also do vegan and dairy free just a phone call away! We will be back, absolutely! 5 stars
As someone not used to tiny Cornish roads this was 'entertaining' to get to, but having been recommended to go there by a local, we kept going.
Boy was it worth it. Not just the best pasty I've ever had, it was quite possibly the best food I've ever had. Just wow. Crumbly flakey pasty, crisp but not hard, beautifully seasoned filling with a good amount if meat and veg, Satisfying and delicious.
There's a small carpark at the back, enough for maybe 10 cars.
Candidate for the best pasty and sausage roll I have ever had. Big pasties at a very good value price. Taste fresh and hot and very delicious. Well worth the drive out
Really lovely staff. However, I have to say, their pastys are better.. Best pastys in Cornwall and their sausage rolls are devil sent, for any wanting to shed a few pounds.. Utterly delicious. Their cake's are fab too. Great place, all round. There is also a veg stall, selling really tasty organic veg. Highly recommend. Thank you all, your doing a great job.
Extremely friendly and by far the best pasties in the UK / worldwide. Amazing taste, large and not a rip-off at all.
You can tell by the roaring trade with builders from around the county. Bold claim - but I'd put a lot on it!
A family member was suggested Gear Farm as "the best Cornish pasties" so ofcourse we had to go and try one.
Since this revelation, we have been twice now. If we lived closer, we would be regulars.
Gear Farm is in the middle of nowhere, down some great Cornish back roads, but it is definitely 100% worth the trip!
Staff are really friendly and quick at serving.
Ridiculously tasty Cornish pasty, made with fresh and very local produce from the farm itself.
Huge size and a great price for a pasty in this day and age and the queue down the street shows how popular they are, despite the location.
They do Steak, Veg or Cheese - we had Steak pasties and they were sublime.
We picked them up, drove over to the beach and had the best picnic imaginable, they were even still warm-hot almost an hour later for our picnic thanks to the great recyclable packaging.
To anyone around the area, would definitely advise a visit.
They also have a stall to pick up some local grown fresh veg for great prices.
Whats to say other than totally amazing pasty and we shall be back. This was a recent addition to our pasty tasting trail and it did not disappoint which is no surprise given the boxes of them being collected by people who work nearby presumably for all their work colleagues or a giant pasty party as there were way to many for one person to eat thats for sure. We found the pasty super hot full of meat and really tasty if you are not a pepper it was not over peppery either.
