Nice garden centre, first time I've been in! We were mostly going for the cafe and to have a look around the seeds etc for a future time - good selection at a reasonable price. They also have some bulbs, but not a lot considering the time of year, and some plug plants but at it's early (February,) I'm sure the stock will change.
Usual sort of gift shop things, fun to browse!
Nice cafe (note that it shuts before the garden centre itself, I think at 3:45 on a weekday) - feels almost like a pub inside! It's called the Carriages Café and there is an old railway carriage outside; perhaps there's a plan to move the cafe there? Not sure. They offered soy and oat milk but no gluten free options at the time we visited.
Was very lucky to get a seat in the Pullman carriage, probably best book in advance. The food was lovely, the staff were very helpful. Had a great experience
The cafe was lovely and the staff in the cafe were very helpful. Plants were fresh and good value. The woman on the check out counter was extremely rude. Myself and my parents got a trolley full of plants (spending around £90 in total), so I advised the lady that I want to pay pay for my bits separately and said mine was x4 trays for £12.00. She rudely told me that I don't need to tell her the price. I then tried to help by advising her that my family have got x8 big trays and x20 individual plants, again I got told off for trying to help. I left with my back up and really not wanting to return based on her attitude alone.
Garden Park - on the A370 at Hewish - has a large site with an extensive range of plants and shrubs. The outdoor displays are a bit exposed and it has often seemed somewhat breezy when we have visited, but there is plenty to browse indoors too. The staff are friendly and helpful. Holders of a Davan Club card receive a 10% discount on purchases. There is a spacious tarmac car park providing easy access to the shop.
Amazing quality goods and excellent quality range of gar products, gar gift ideas, pots, ornaments, buds, just about everything you need for your garden. The Cafe is open and very cosy, excellent quality service, excellent quality food, great value for money. Excellent staffs and excellent service. Love it here. You will too.
It was, as one says in Britain. A very pleasant day. Normally rainy at that time of year but! the rain held off and as the clouds rolled by the sun shone as we boarded the 12:15 'Hewish Garden Pullman Express' to Lunchville. The smell of 'Murder' hung in the air. If not 'murder' maybe 'HUNGER'. The smell of hunger brought on by the menu of food. Which was given to us by a very nice attentive waitress. We sat in our Pullman carriage expecting a scream and a crime to be solved by Hercule Parrot. But instead we enjoyed a very very nice lunch. I had chicken. Which ironically was the only dead body in our carriage. But I ate it. Sorry chicken your murder may never be solved. But! I give you a promise your passing was very much enjoyed. Especially with potatoes and veg and cheesey sauce. Very nice. Thankyou chicken. Anyhoo. To recap enjoyed a very nice lunch in the pullman carriage. Highly recommended. Excellent service.
Good garden centre. Well stocked with plants and the usual nick-nacs you find at garden centres. The cafe was packed with visitors, so must be popular. Priced quite high but food was good. Had to wait a while but was freshly cooked. Pleasant staff. Toilet area was one at a time so had to queue up, by milling around browsing TAT. ie personal name plates for bedrooms, and named keyrings, as I said TAT. Raining hard so only stopped for shelter and food. OK as garden centres go.
We went to Carriages Restaurant. You walk through the plant section then into the section under cover that has now got Christmas lights, decorations etc. The reindeer are lovely (not real!) with a jolly Father Christmas which delighted the children. The restaurant has specials and on certain days have carvery, fish & chips deals. The Pullman carriage has arrived, and by next year should be in use for meals.
