Best KPortal Reviews

There was literally nowhere else open so we thought we’d give it a go, given that the reviews on here weren’t half bad. My partner ordered the fish and chips and it was fine - all ingredients were frozen but had been cooked well. ||I ordered beef and whisky pie, it sounded lovely. A plate of tiny pieces of meat arrived, swimming in gravy and topped with a puff pastry lid - not a pie in my view. The veg came separately- boiled pots (pre-prepped and water logged) and frozen broccoli and cubes of carrots, like school dinners, swimming in water, not even properly drained. The whole meal was totally tasteless. Whisky? No sign of this great Scottish ingredient. Much of the meat was tough and chewy. Even the frozen puff pastry wasn’t cooked properly. How can ‘chefs’ churn out rubbish like this and charge £13?!! The only good points were the plate was hot and the waitress was friendly. Wild horses wouldn’t drag me back there. Awful. Be warned!!
We selected the restaurant based on Trip Advisor so this review is both worrying in that so many good reviews are posted and worrying to keep using for guidance.|We ordered two roasts (adult) and a combo of chicken and ribs (adult) along with three children's meals. The food was basically all microwaved either from scratch or just warmed up. Nothing was fresh. The crispy chicken breast was a 'Findus' frozen breast and the ribs were full of (I don't know to be honest but it was horrible). The roasts were reheated beef slices and same with veg. My son refused to eat the microwaved pizza because it was just warmed bread with cheese on top. |The main issue I think I have are the glowing reviews for this place. The staff member who served us was great, a friendly man with great qualities. However, surely this can't hide the very low grade food that is served. The prices stated are for fresh cooked food and this is not, and no one can argue different.
Ate here with my friend and her two kids. We were told that because my friend and I were ordering a meal, they would fed my friends kids for free! |Yes food was basic pub food, yes it was shop bought, but you get what you pay for and this was a box standard nice meal for a cheap price, we all enjoyed it and the staff were thoughtful and lovely. They even threw in free ice creams and fruit shoots for the kids too! |Thanks for a lovely time! |
Sorry this review is late but can I say we stopped off to watch the play off final( national league England) and we were made to feel so welcome by the lad behind the bar whose name I'm embarrassed to say I cant remember. I must say the locals on the day were fabulous and were fellow Poolies by the end!
As far as the place itself it's a proper pub, clean ,good beer good craic and very very freindly atmosphere if ever we go back over that way it will definitely be a place to visit
Excellent, friendly service, Great value for money. 2 adults and 2 children. Children ate for free, plus free drinks! One free child meal for every paying adult. A most welcome break from the rain.||||These guys could do with visiting the House O'Hill Inn at Glentrool and giving them some staff/customer service training as the latter was disgraceful indeed!!!!||||Warm, friendly staff and good food. What more could you ask!
Seven adults, three teenagers a day a baby descended upon this fine, friendly and lovely inn situated in the main street of Newton Stewart. We had four from USA, four from Scotland and three from England.
We were shown to our seats immediately on our arrival and after a short period of time our waiting staff took drinks orders. We ordered a range of soft drinks, a couple of real ales and a Stella. All delivered in a flash. Now to the food orders.... Lasagne, veg burger, a combo, fish and chips, several burgers and three steak pies with a dash of scotch.
I did say to myself this will be fun. I noticed that chef was on his own. After a not too long wait the food all arrived more or less at the same time. A feat I must say that surprised me. Everything was piping hot and properly cooked. Well done. We shall return and I would recommend this lovely wee gem to anyone else who finds themselves in the area.
Saw a rather unpleasant review of GAH and it didn't reflect my much earlier experience so gave it a try. Staff excellent, beer pretty good and food different and we both really enjoyed it. It would have been 5 stars if the menu had not repeatedly spelt whisky as whiskey, even our wonderful local Bladnoch. This in a pub that specialises in whisky.
I stopped off for lunch today and this hotel was opposite where I parked my bike.|I walked into what I presumed to be the dining room to find the place to be empty.|There is a bell on the bar so I rang that and a friendly staff member came through. I asked about lunch and was given a menu.|I chose the chicken burger (£9.45) and a can of Fanta (1.70).|What arrived was nothing like a chicken burger. What I got was 2 pieces of, I presume, frozen bread crumbed chicken deep fried and stuck in a morning roll. Not even a proper burger bun. The chips were also cooked from frozen. The mayo was nice. Everything was hot which was a bonus. |For the price I would have expected a proper burger made with fresh ingredients.|I also went to the gents and it is a disgrace. It is dirty, broken tiles, corrosion on metal parts and no means of drying your hands. I had to go and ask for a towel.|The outside of the building really needs painted and cleaned up.
