Best KPortal Reviews
(Disclaimer I rated five stars for food because I wasn't aware food was available (???)).
Been drinking here loads on & off for the last 15 years, it's better now than ever before, friendly place for a pint and watch sports, with outdoor seating and dog treats. Reckon Mark the owner has a decent handle on the place. Pour me a nicely kept pint of Jaipur!
Best pub in my area. It's my local when I want to socialise. There is no pub in my village so have to travel to Friends Arms, but I'm happy to. People here always have time for a good moment to take out if their day and move their lives forward in this great atmosphere. I recommend wholeheartedly. Mark the owner is down to earth and helpful, a regular man with a good heart. He lives on site and it is better for it. His staff work hard when needed to and follow in his example.
Lovely local pub
Great choice of ales ????
And discount for camera members
Nice little pub with friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy watching sport and having drink.
Darts available as well
This place is over 200 years old. Cosy and friendly. Love it
Beautiful historic building, being an MA student in Arts, I really do appreciate the heritage of the Friends Arms. It use to have a wonderful atmosphere, I remember years ago, Mark the previous landlord, a fantastic publican, keeping the pub inclusive, sociable and friendly. Put a lot in to updating the pub with local real ales, etc.
Unfortunately, the last time we celled there, few months ago (one time particularly my Father's Birthday) there was new landlord, he had a measly manner, he came across unreasonably prejudiced against towards some costumers. My Parents and I witnessed his callousness and feeling uncomfortable, we left straight away.!!
A real shane, he was short in stature, red faced and came across as a bigot. Don't doubt this will see the decline in costum and atmosphere. Other friends I've asked, explained they'd
had similar experiences and have recently stopped visiting there also.
If you are looking for a traditional pub to visit, in the area I recommend The Drovers Arms, or Boar's Head in the towns main street. If your a student, I recommend The Popular's, it is close by.
Great pub - great landlord - very friendly - really enjoyed our time there
A typical pub! Clean, friendly staff. Plenty of choice on taps not so much with wine. They do Pizzas. Simple things but it works. No parking but you an always get a space on the road out front. Has a beer garden for the summer and log burners for the winter, nice and cosy
