Really friendly staff, clean surroundings with lovely view of the cathedral and surroundings. Handy for the town centre. Great cakes and scones.
Staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent. It was almost an hour before a cathedral recital, but as it took over 25 minutes to arrive (it was a salad), I barely managed to finish it and didn't have time for a dessert.
Fratry has so much potential. A stylish building in the Cathedral quarter. Superb facilities.
But a lot is missing..
Food. Well you can see from the photo. Missing presentation and an average at best offering. My guest's bread was a bake at home roll that was inexpertly baked, but the soup was nice.
Perhaps the result of a cold Sunday in late January, the staff were indifferent and the atmosphere was not welcoming.
Fratry is surrounded by lots of other food outlets. Maybe they're all this standard. But I doubt it. Competition usually drives quality up.
Shame. Expectations not met.
Beautiful inside - especially as it is dressed for Christmas. The shelves of books upon books were really nice to see. Both the ceiling and floor really are works of art also.
Food really good even though it was busy we didn't have to wait long and the staff were very welcoming
Friendly staff and good food. Still the cheese scones are, in my opinion, the best in Carlisle.
Loved the new Fratry a good cuppa coffee & fruit scone followed by an excellent hot chocolate with marshmallows ???? mmm. Nice and central.
